this may be more for the dumb questions thread, but with all the icky logos stamped on every particle in their building, are the whioux still ineligible to ever host an ncaa event (like a regional) in that arena?
This came to mind during the podcast the other day.
Happy Gopher Hockey game day!! Let’s kick some f’n hawk a$$!

don't think they can because its a home arena either way. same reason we can't host at Mariucci.

Currently, yes that is true. But this is a hypothetical if host sites were someday allowed to be held at current ncaa arenas. I thought that was a stipulation to keeping their offensive logo in the arena, they could never host an ncaa event. I don’t ever want to have to go back to that place so hoping that stays true. 😂

I remember 1979-80 season the Gophers losing in the NCAA playoffs losing to Northern Michigan in the playoffs at Mariucci the Gophers tied the game the puck went through the net the refs could not find where the puck went through the net they ruled no goal 😡
Aloha!
No X’s and O’s or line predictions from this amateur hockey rube with maroon and gold tinted glasses. Just vibes. Time for the boys to become men. Time to go stand up to the big, bad wolf. Go play with no fear and stamp a big gold M across Grand Forks. Let’s go Gophs!

they would be barred unless they could cover up all the logos (which is part of why Englestad mandated they put it in the marble floor) as the NCAA has prohibited use of all Native American symbols at NCAA host sites unless exception/approval from the tribe I believe.
which this would be particularly hilarious if there was a switch back to home sites and UND was immediately barred from hosting lol

Do we really need Whipple and McLaughlin to be a pair?😬
Whipple has quietly been reasonably steady imo and has been physical. Don't mind it tbh and like it better than putting McLaughlin and Rombach together with idea this 3rd pair is going to player lower minutes
glad to see Bob and I are similar in our team scout regarding the forward lineup card. Hopefully it works out
Please no crease front passes when you can shoot tonight guys
I'm excited for the game they have a lot of new players as well
To say I’m nervous for how our young d core handles the first 10 minutes is an understatement. If they can settle in I like our chances in a close game.
Chat, of course, will be going.

BOOM. That was BEAUTIFUL.

The defense has been…. Bad. Thomas gives it away then screens Airey. Awesome guys
need to calm down in our own end
Looks like Airey is back to his normal self.
That may be the weakest "slashing" call I've ever even heard of, much less watched happen.
And, did anyone see the alleged slash on Ludtke?
End of 1, tied at 2.

Lots of penalties in this game. Geeze.

3 stick penalties on the gophers in the first. We’ll see if the nchc refs decide they’re going to call it both ways or not. I’d be in favor of both sides just being allowed to play. It’s happening all over the ice which it always does in this series.
If we stop passing them the puck and taking 6 min in penalties a period, we’ll be fine
Total BS slashing calls. Gophers skating hard.
For certain, the "slash" they called on Lamb was a phantom. He barely tapped with the blade of the stick. That play happens dozens of times a game and isn't called. I also didn't see anything that looked vaguely like a slash by Ludtke, but saw at least one actual slash un-called by the WhiouxThat may be the weakest "slashing" call I've ever even heard of, much less watched happen.

the lamb one is a horizontal stick at his hands. He doesn’t hit him hard and the play happens a dozen times a game. As long as they call them all, fine. Same garbage Mooney got called for on the what should’ve been gopher goal last week.
they’re just so inconsistent actually calling it it ends up looking ridiculous

Short answer is they didn’t. Not pretty defensively but capitalized on 2 good looks. Settle down and stay out of the box.
Gruba needs to relax. Flopping around the ice like a fish and turning the puck over.
First one, Luke had the guy covered, then moved away to try to go toward where the puck was (with three Gophers already in that direction) leaving the scorer alone right on the edge of the crease. If he wasn’t screened on the last one I’d agree. First goal was brutal defense and a very low chance of any goalie stopping it.Looks like Airey is back to his normal self.
OK. A pretty weak slashing call on the Whioux now, too. I don't like calling those, but, as long as they call it on both teams, I'll move on.

how about we follow it up with a really weak hooking call?
Rombach is REALLY struggling to skate. Wow.
That's the first bad bad penalty call
These refs are unbelievably bad... In what world is that boarding?
That is maybe the worst call of the night. What the fuck is whipple supposed to do?

I would say that was the first GOOD penalty call.
BUT, the refs are fairly consistent (-ly bad) tonight.

Pathetic officiating against the Gophers
