College hockey teams can play 34 regular season games. There are exceptions to that limit including the Ice Breaker Invitational tournament, the U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame Game and games played in the state of Alaska. Those games are considered exempt and don’t count toward the 34-game limit. Teams are also allowed to play exhibition games during the season (Alumni game, Olympic teams, USNTDP, One vs NCAA Team, and One vs Foreign Team in US). Finally, teams are allowed to also play a foreign tour once every four years — Wisconsin went to Vancouver in 2019 for an early pre-season camp of 10 extra practices in July/August.
