Duluth is 5-1 this year, with their only loss to Augustana. Gophers are 2-3-1.

I actually give a @#$* about the Twins

Have a couple family friends that play for Bemidji so we went to watch BSU and Duluth Friday night. The Plante Bros plus Shaugabay line is absolutely legit. High Hockey IQ...I didn't feel like Shaugabay took a full stride all night and next thing you know he has a goal and 3 assists, his Vision is crazy.
Shut that line down, which is probably nearly impossible, and it'll be a great weekend.
Really happy about the North Dakota split. Feels like the Saturday win was a season saver. With that said, I feel they need to sweep Duluth (probably a tall order). I thought Luca was the better goalie before the season started, but its a toss up right now. If this team can develop a third line and a third set of defenseman they can make the tourney.

my sincere hope is the realized the way they win on Saturday. Similar blueprint Friday vs BC. Sound defensive hockey, limit grade As and capitalize on yours coupled with getting to the net front for the scummy ones too. Shot totals are deceiving but they really limited UNDs good chances on Saturday and blocked 23 shots. Friday they gave up more grade As, blocked less shots and as a result they got bit.
UMD has already scored 7 times on the PP. Play sound in the defensive end and stay out of the box and we'll be just fine.
Didn’t even realize that Lamb tallied 3 assists on Saturday and I was more surprised that they were his first 3 assists of this season.
in other cool stats, thru 6 games, Lamb has scored as many goals as he did over his entire freshman year (4 goals in 39 games). However I will say, the last 2 goals he scored as a freshman were both pretty memorable nights

Getting out of Grand Forks will probably help the penalty troubles
I was very pleased with the execution of Saturday’s game. The Gophers have been getting more consistent play from the defense, playing with more confidence and seem to be on the verge of really cohesing together. I fully anticipate that due to the youth on this team, that they will keep getting stronger as the season progresses. This is a team with a lot of skill, can’t wait to watch them reach their potential! Let’s sweep those dawgs!
So this weekend and next weekend both Men’s and women’s teams play road series at the same school
Aloha!

Anybody get to go to the practice today as part of their Gopher score event selection? Was pretty bummed it was a mid afternoon thing so couldn’t leave work. Would be curious to see how the lines looked and if Townsend was skating/how he’s looking?
@upnorthkid I went with my two kids. Was interesting to watch. Really cool moment when Mooney gave a hockey stick to a kid right in front of us. It had personal scribblings on it from LJ. So disappointed it was given to the kid in front of us and not my kid, but a cool moment nonetheless. 😀 Reminded me of a couple years ago when Pitlick threw a stick to a kid as one of the 3 stars of the game.
Just snagged a ticket for the Saturday night game! Haven’t been to a game since Friday night against Mercyhurst last season and before that was the B1G championship in March of 2023 so I’m stoked! Hopefully Vegoe’s prediction is true and we see the Gophs sweep this weekend!
Really hoping for some great crowds this weekend. In-state rival in town, nothing else going on on campus to my knowledge. Hopefully the Gophers give them something to cheer about.

They would probably get better crowds moving games to 5pm on Saturdays... Grumble, grumble.
As it stands, they're losing at least 4 people in attendance every Saturday they have a 7pm start.
Loved the 5 pm starts, I’m sure it helped those fans bringing younger kids to the game. As for the series, I’ll say split. The Gophers haven’t had any consistency yet, and the Bulldogs are looking improved. One game at a time!
Lets go Gophers!!
Cant wait for the game tonight. Hoping for lots of students, as there are no other sports that I know about this weekend at home.
While the 5:00 works better for families with young kids, I suspect they got lots of complaints about the early start times from people without children, or that don't bring children with (and I'd guess people with slightly older children that have afternoon activities on Saturdays that couldn't make the early start)
My wife and I are childless season ticket holders who loved the 5pm Saturday starts. All of our childless friends that came to games with us last year were also fans. While the 5:00 works better for families with young kids, I suspect they got lots of complaints about the early start times from people without children, or that don't bring children with (and I'd guess people with slightly older children that have afternoon activities on Saturdays that couldn't make the early start)

This. Also, 5pm puck drop is even tougher for us non-metro fans. I’m from Rochester and while visiting the parents last holidays I wanted to catch a game with my little bro (still in high school), but with driving time there was no way to make a 5pm Saturday start work with little bro’s varsity game in Roch @ 2:30pm. We coulda made a 7pm Gopher game easily though.
Nate Schmidt will be at the game tonight. First time back since his playing days per Russo. Would assume Logan Cools will be there as well to watch his cousin play. Expecting a great atmosphere tonight!
Edit: Schmidty’s first time back at a Gopher game since his playing days (2013). He trains at Mariucci over the summer with a lot of other pros.
Let’s get some shots through tonight. Mid-teens in shots is getting old😄
Boy that took the wind out of my sails
That was unfortunate, the Gophers came out flying! Boys got to get the wheels going again, pick up your tender.
I know the stats don't agree, but I do not like that referee
ah shit
Yeah I was hoping he'd be the guy this year but so far he's looked more like one of those Gopher backups (that I'm not gonna name) who gives you zero chance to win a close game vs a quality opponent. I thought he was decent last game but he also didn't have to do a ton, hopefully he makes some big saves and the Gophers turn this one around.Woof luca
Reminiscent of a couple of the easy ones he let in against Tech.
Man I love Nate Schmidt haha
The Gophers are going to have their hands full the rest of the game with that Plante line. But they have had good opportunities in the first period. They are down 2 goals but they have actually been playing pretty decent. Hopefully they can cut the deficit to a goal in the second and have a great third period.

That's my thoughts exactly, I have not been upset with their game. That first goal sucked, second goal was a bit unlucky with it finding his tape, but the boys are playing good IMO. Just come out and get a quick one and turn the tide
They can't allow any more bad goals and need to figure out how to generate more quality chances. Team really needs to learn how to play more complementary hockey. They’re not on the same page between forecheckers and especially between forward and defense
Well Luca made up for the easy one he let in. Holy SHIT
I have no idea how they didn’t score. I need a replay.Well Luca made up for the easy one he let in. Holy SHIT
Another terrible disjointed powerplay.
That’s a real sharp looking PP. 👍

Even on replay, couldn't REALLY tell where it hit.
When you tell somebody somethin', it depends on what part of the United States you're standin' in... as to just how dumb you are.
18 is the only one out there doing much of anything. 7 has had a rough night so far as have others.
I’ve seen better hockey played at beer league.
I don’t think anyone wants to be here. No one is battling for pucks, there’s no urgency, no passing - just throwing the puck into space.
They look like they just came off a 3 day bender and the high ran out 8 minutes into the first period.
Banking on another four goal third I guess.
Gophers entire forward group has 5 shots. 5.
there are some times this team will have ups and downs and you expect it, but for everyone’s sake Bob needs to tell this team to shoot the fucking puck.
