Koi let the preseason hype get in his head? I also recently saw a quote of him saying he'd skip college altogether if he could go straight to the pros now.
To be fair I think a lot of players would do the same given the opportunity. That was such a bad decision and it gave them zero chance to win the game as a result. They might not have won anyhow but at least there was a small chance.

Lindsey was 31 of 41 (76 %), 324 yards passing, 3 TD passes, 0 INTs and does it without our top two RBs so no running game that the defense has to worry about.
We won that game by a millimeter.

After these past two weeks, I'm not sure how good of a team we have, but if he sticks around for a few years that could be incredibly impactful to where we could go.

Please tell me the name(s) of any coach who would be an improvement, who would want to come here, who would want to work with a bottom 5 NIL fund in the Big Ten, who would accept a middle of the road B1G salary, who wouldn't leave for something better after showing a minor amount of improvement.
I am thankful we finally have expectations of a winning season, and coaching stability. We replaced Mason with freaking Tim Brewster who set the program backwards a decade, maybe more. Jeff Horton for 1 game... Jerry Kill was decent, but wasn't going to get us much further than he did, and was a .500 coach. Tracey Claeys for 2 games... It was a mess there for a bit.
PJ has the highest winning percentage (.602) since Bernie Bierman. I would say PJ Fleck is about as ideal of a coach for the University of Minnesota as you could reasonably ask for. He is keeping most of the highest rated in-state recruits which was a complaint against the last... I don't know, several coaches.
PJ is 6-1 vs Nebraska and 4-4 vs Wisconsin (following 13 straight loses before his tenure), and is undefeated in Bowl games. But yes, he is 0-fer against Michigan and is 1-7 versus Iowa.
If the Gophers can beat a down Wisconsin team, an Iowa team who bought their QB, and make a bowl, I will consider it a successful season give the circumstances. The CAL game was win-able, and right there. I don't think coaching was the sole reason they lost, but frustrating for sure. Hopefully Lindsey, and the rest of the team, can continue to improve and in 2 years we can make some noise with a talented Junior and Senior QB... hoping he improves and doesn't transfer out.

Our only hope is that they don’t take us seriously, make mistakes, and start to panic when it’s close.
If anything PJ is more like a good but not great coach, he's punched above his weight at times in terms of recruiting like in 2019 and puts together bowl eligible teams that win their bowl game. He also seems to pick the right guys who want to stay here and build a team 3-4 years down the road rather than transferring in the portal if they have a good season, which avoids unnecessary offseason drama. He's def not infallible and I've had my criticisms, I also wonder if he can build another team that's as good as the 2019 team. But it could be a lot worse and unless the financial situation here changes drastically I don't see it being easy to make a huge coaching upgrade.
