His FA was not strong and that was the entire justification of going cheap on QB. The 30+ year old C and two 30+ year old DL most likely won't be back next year.
His drafting has been as bad as it could get. And the result is a very old team, spending a lot of money.

On O they did everything they could to shelter JJ in the first half, like he was back at Michigan just handing off the ball. It didn’t resemble anything of an NFL offense. They did run the ball well and the O line is playing fine.
The Packers aren’t even that great of a team, totally beatable and at least in the game with anything that resembles a QB.
This inoperable O is 100% because of JJ. He’s horrible.
They don’t even have the ability to cross the 50.

What an INDICTMENT on the miscalculation by KOC & Kwesi not franchise tagging Darnold for one year or making a real effort to sign Danny Dimes & selling him on rehabbing his career in 2025 (like the Colts have). McCarthy missing 2024 with knee injury & surgery & coming from a run 1st Michigan NC team, he needs a lot more time to watch & learn than they thought he would & it’s exploded in their faces dramatically

Building in FA each year like Kwesi has done since being here is hit or miss on the field. It’s not a long term strategy and it’s almost always costly.

I understand the sentiment, but they're going to ride it out with JJ for the rest of the season unless he gets hurt. There was a split second where JJ looked like he got hit hard in the 3rd quarter. I'm sure there were a few players who were hoping he'd just get hurt at least for the rest of the game.

Kwesi watched the Eagles win last year by dominating on the O-line and D-line. Also saw our O-line get run over in the middle during the postseason game. Instead of drafting and building talent, he took the band aid approach and got old players with injury risks from free agency. He had a plan with the cheap QB and the loaded lines. Apparently he never once considered that injuries would happen or he'd be completely wrong on the QB.

I agree but there is also 6 weeks left in the season. Things are torpedoing at an epic rate. They have a QB that is unplayable at the NFL level that at a minimum KOC vouched for being ready and that he could develop. Again only the Wilfs know how this was pitched and who is most on the hook.
And it is almost a guarantee at this point that there is zero chance that the Vikes are rolling into the season with JJ as the anointed starter, someone else is either coming in & its their job to lose or a true competition with the best QB getting the job. Which is very ironic how this thing is going to come full circle so quickly and how far it has set back this organization.

And there was hope that this was the start of a steady march toward improvement. But since then he was worse vs Ravens, worse vs Bears & abysmal in 2nd half vs Packers where their D line was rushing HARD, but their D backs were playing soft & he still couldn’t find the open receivers & was holding the ball way too long & getting sacked. He absolutely looks like a PROJECT at QB to put it mildly. And his confidence has plummeted since the season opening 4th qtr comeback win over da Bears, who are 8-1 since that loss.
The fact LaFluer sensed to just run clock & not to even bother go for it on fourth down, tells U he sensed ZERO threat from the Vikings O in 2nd half. That said, that muffed/fumbled punt on Vikings 4 yard line sealed the win for Packers. That’s an INEXCUSABLE mistake by Vikings # 4, a rookie who also had two straight fumbled kick returns vs Ravens that torpedoed the Vikings.
Look, at 4-7 the Vikings season is OVER. So as cringe worthy as it’s been, Brosmer (sorry Gopher bobos) is not an option as long as McCarthy is healthy, so ya gotta just throw the kid out there for 6 more games to see if he can turn this TURD string of performances around.

I think the most concerning part is the basics are not there. Footwork, how far to stride when throwing, and how to put touch on the ball. I’m guessing KOC’s “QB college” he has put on the last few years with Darnold and Daniel Jones require the basic minimum so he can get to the more intricate items like line checks and how to read a defense.
