Surprised to see ND lose their composure in the last couple minutes, pretty bad look but maybe that’s what they’ll be post Jackson?

I really liked Schierhorn on the call on TV tonight. Always good to get insight from guys who are not too far removed from playing.

Is this the first time he’s done this cause he’s already miles ahead of Clymer

He did some radio appearances with Wally last year, and I think the Duluth weekend he did TV for the first time?

Clymer most definitely knows hockey at every level well.  He just doesn't do the TV color commentator thing well at all.

That was unexpected, to say the least.  NOT what I've come to expect from Notre Dame teams.  Pretty much anyone else in the conference, I could see going that direction.  Guess Jackson did a better job keeping them disciplined.

Lived in Tampa when he won a cup…as a former Gopher…I was so proud so he obviously knows about hockey. But that doesn’t mean you’re a coherent analyst on TV. I also couldn’t do that. But I’m pretty sure I wouldn’t say obviously dumb 💩and be cringey. He is getting better tho but come on.

What drives me crazy is Clymer’s tendency to just ramble on for long stretches and still somehow not finish whatever point he’s stumbling around trying to make

I honestly thought this was one of Clymer's better efforts for commentary, and that he's improved quite a bit from his earliest days. He has his moments, but ffs he loves the game and at least pays attention to both teams and the college game in general.  We could do a lot worse than someone like him that loves what he's doing.

This team post Jackson looks really bad and the new coach has his work cut out for him. Jackson seemed like the type who got a team to play super disciplined hockey with minimal mistakes and tight defense to make up for a fairly dry offense. The new coach seems to have none of that and a similar lack of high end talent.

That said the gophers needed that sweep and earned it. Luca had a great series and Mooney was really good today.

Do you mean this weekend? They had Schierhorn in the booth in Clymers place for both games.

Mooney is definitely a crap stirrer. He was in the middle of a bunch of the scrums last night and at the horn I believe he was the one who shot the puck the length of the ice at the goalie. His cell in front of the students was pretty good as well. Love his passion, but he better keep his head on a swivel because at some point he will be a target.

The Gophers did what they needed to do to do this weekend. Beat an inferior opponent for the sweep. Was hoping for a Townsend goal, as I think the place will erupt.

Sometimes it feels like Clymer is so afraid of being called a homer that he goes out of his way to crap on the Gophers. Doesn’t really bother me I just find it humorous. Of course this season they’ve given him plenty to work with.

Notre Dame tying the game at 1 just made us mad.

Luke Mitts on the power play.

Jimmy Clark even strength.

Both guys with their first goal of the season.

So happy to see Clark finally get a goal. He works hard.

Just watching Mooney on the ice is worth the price of admission.

I think Schierhorn will do fine. Clymer just bugs me sometimes. Rich & Schierhorn do a nice job.

FYI... Clymer only does BTN/FSN games now.

Pat Micheletti is the one doing Fox9 and Plus. Schierhorn has been filling in for Pat. Pat MAY be back for next week, we will have to see. Otherwise Schierhorn will be in for him.

That and Whipple's celebration were priceless.  It's not just the wins and championships.  Moments like these make Gopher Hockey worth watching.

I've been busy and haven't been able to chat much, but that might have been for the best during the rough start to the season as it was getting harder and harder to hang onto the belief that this team is better than the record would indicate.  It may have been only one series, but snapping the losing streak in fantastic fashion has at least for the moment brought back the sunshine.  ND may be in the middle of a coaching transition, but I wonder if they came into this weekend expecting a couple of winnable games instead of facing a Gopher team that had something to prove.

Whipple is getting better and better every game. Gaining confidence every shift. Rombach as well. Lil John Mooney is so electric and fun to watch.

Effort was great this weekend. Let's hope they keep the effort up to around the level of this weekend.
