BADgers are 4-0-2 this year. Another rivalry weekend.

We will be there for both games. We ARE still in our 20's so we will be going out on Halloween 😉
Hoping for a couple of get right games.
Honestly, don’t even know what to expect going into this weekend. Good vibes and momentum we had a week ago coming out of Grand Forks with a split were completely dashed by Duluth this past weekend. Bad, bad, bad all around on Friday and then too much on Saturday they just looked slow and disjointed. Ludtke sounds like he’s potentially out for a bit, Townsend is still not back, and who knows about Thomas. Wisconsin actually doesn’t seem half bad this year and it feels like we’re almost limping into this weekend. Four weeks in and I feel like we have more questions than answers. The boys need to find their game and at least get a split this weekend otherwise this could get ugly.
If we couldn't muster anything against a clog the neutral zone team like Duluth and it's more of the same against Wisconsin, I don't foresee a successful weekend. I'll be gladly proven wrong, but it does not feel like the get right spot we need it to be.
I was rooting for splits early in the season, but if this team really wants to play in the NCAA tournament they need to start playing hard BOTH games. Splitting with the bottom half of the Big 10 will leave them on the outside of the NCAA bubble.

unfortunately they’re going to have to go at least 4-2 over these next 6 or there’s really just not an easy to see path forward. Splitting at wi is probably fine, but they’re going to need to put a win streak together and this is the softest part of the schedule that is left
What’s the story with Ludtke being out?

Yeah I’d like to know the same thing. Reports seem intentionally vague.
If the whole team starts giving max effort they still have a decent chance. They need to put together a nice winning streak. This is the perfect weekend to get started!
Go Gophers!
What’s the story with Ludtke being out?
lack of effort, healthy scratch
I agree he was a liability effort-wise on Friday, so sitting him on Saturday makes some amount of sense. But what’s keeping him out this week? Issues in the locker room? You’ve posted this more than once so clearly you know something we don’t but I don’t get it.
Yeah I'd be curious to know what happened there too.

deleted.
Very strange response from Motzko in that interview (re Ludtke). What kind of viral illness puts someone out of the lineup for “a couple weeks,” particularly if that illness started over a week ago in North Dakota?

Clearly you’ve never had mono before. 😂
Not saying that’s it. But there are such illnesses. 🤷♀️

My understanding is benched for lack of effort.
Motzko cited illness in the weekly radio show for Ludtke, but seemed to choose his words carefully.
Bob did not bench him for lack of effort and would not continue to "bench" him for 2 more weeks because of that. Come on man. Also, HIPPA. The students have a right to privacy on illness/injuries per policy, so Bob just can't go on the radio and say what specific injury/illness he has.

Between Townsend and Ludtke I’ve had enough reckless speculation this month. At this point when they’re back they’re back but until then it’s all hands on deck up front.
Mooney-Clark-Lamb
Hendrickson-Pahlsson-Pritchard
Moore-Moe-Ziemer
Falloon-Mittelstadt-Harris
Don’t like how this lineup buries Ziemer but I don’t like the idea of an all-freshman line with Pritchard there so it’s either him or Lamb.

I was totally confused when Motzko said Saturday one is short term and one is a couple weeks, and then he says that Ludtke's deal is viral. Has to be mono, I got it when I was coaching one year and it totally wiped me out where I slept from 6 pm to 8 am for about a week.
yeah if it's mono, then it'll be a couple weeks unfortunately. typically recommended to be out 2 weeks and if spleen is enlarged it's at least 4 weeks if not a couple months depending on what the spleen does, particularly for contact sports

Not gonna lie, being able to sleep from 6pm to 8am for a week sounds like a dream.

Just got around to listening to the show. Not sure where this is coming from, Bob specifically states Ludtke’s situation is viral. Yeah you could say it’s a cover for something else but we’d be getting deep into tinfoil hat territory at that point.
Speaking from my medical background, if he is out because of a virus, it's mono.

sometimes a kid line is the best way to roll when you got nothing better to try. Like Vegs and Jup talked about on the season premiere, kids on a line with vets sometimes play overly cautious and defer to lineys too much. Thinking back to how during the Covid Olympics for a stretch Bob put together an all-frosh line of Pitlick-Huglen-Lucius that ended up being really good, and it was partly out of sheer desperation/lacking bodies at that point.

So you have no real facts when you say it is due to lack of effort. Why start a rumor

Bert, you're right , why start a rumor in the first place. This is how shit starts.
Some ‘Better Dead Than Red’ humor…
In 1990, Chris Chelios got arrested outside a bar in Madison, Wis, after two police officers saw him urinating in public. Chelios got charged with resisting arrest and disorderly conduct.
Chelios paid for his bail and didn’t have to spend the night in jail. The next morning, he was awakened by a call from Canadiens GM Serge Savard.
”I guess you heard,” Chelios said.
”Heard what?” Savard asked.
”I was arrested today.”
”That’s okay, because I traded you last night.”
”Where?”
”Chicago.”
Chelios then told Savard that he was sad about leaving the Canadiens.
”Well,” Savard said, ”I could have really f***ed you and traded you to Winnipeg for Dale Hawerchuk.”
”In that case, thanks!” Chelios said and they both laughed.

We are on our way down! Stopping to golf in the cold 😂
I ended up cancelling my trip as I ended up with vertigo. Feels sad, we would be leaving in 2 hours if it wasn't for my not being able to walk and all.

I mean just put on a red shirt and pretend you’re a wisco student…they probably wouldn’t question you teetering around, especially on Halloween weekend. 😂
In all seriousness, that really sucks. I know how much you guys enjoy the trip. Hopefully the silver lining will be an epic sweep by the Gophers that all of us who couldn’t go this year will miss! 😁
Hope you get better soon!
There will be no red shirts this weekend.
Still bummed this is over this weekend. This is my fav road trip and we will be missing it. Gotta put my kid ahead of this trip
Not only does it feel like Gophs NEED at least one win, I need a win or two. As someone mentioned, hasn't been a great MN Sports' Fall. The only sports I really follow are 1. Goph men's hockey 2. Wild 3. Vikings. (I'll follow teams like Twins and Goph women when they are making playoffs, but couldn't care less about any bouncyball team even if they win championship 10 yrs in a row.)
Goph's I knew would likely start slowly, but wasn't expecting this slow. Wild I thought would be over .500 and get better through season, given how they did last year even with multiple starters out (Who knew Freddy Goudreau was so good and important?). Vikings I knew would depend on QB, but thought their D would be a top 3 in league (too much listening to PA) and rest of O (especially improved O line) good enough to make the O at least average. (What is that saying about when you assume things?)
Tough to be an optimistic fan.
While this team is clearly a step down in talent from last few years, they still have a lot of talent and if Bob can get them to a consistent level of effort enough to make the tourney, they have a shot. A lot of champs in the past several years were not necessarily the team with most talent, but one that was playing the best as a team and with most effort. (Gotta just keep telling myself that.)
Expectations for this weekend could not be lower for me. Young inexperienced team meets mature defensive trap team. Like a square peg and a round hole. Hope I’m wrong.
Ludtke and Thomas out. Luca in net.
No Cal Thomas tonight per the lines posted on Twitter. No Ludtke either, but that was expected.
Sigh…
Some major changes to the line chart tonight even from Saturday when Ludtke also didn't play.
Mooney and Ziemer are split up
Clark paired with Ziemer rather than Lamb
Moore moved up playing with Clark and Ziemer
Mooney paired with Lamb rather than Ziemer
Hendrickson moved down to the 3rd line. He has been on the 2nd line for the past three series.
Hopefully these lines work well.

Waiting for Paulson to get something going.
Thank goodness we aired this fucking set of commercials prior to putting the game on. Ffs I hate BTN so much
