I know he has missed on some goal opportunities, but I love his calmness in getting the puck out of the defensive zone. No behind the back passes, just calmly either banks it off the glass or waits for a lane.

Nelson has looked that way for most of this year. He will be such an important piece of this puzzle as we move towards April. Power play, penalty kill, defensive draws.. kid does it all.

Maybe I haven't been paying attention enough but he looked pretty fast this weekend too.
Low key best chance for a long NHL career on the team. he does so many things well and could be logging major minutes if he can keep up that face off dominance at the next level.
I’ll echo everyone else because it deserves to be applauded, Jaxon Nelson is an outstanding hockey player. All facets.

After last nights win, Gophers have 3 shutouts in their last 6 games at Compton.The Gophers have had some success in South Bend of lately. Since the 2018-2019 season, the Gophers are 6-2-1 at Compton. One of those losses being in the playoffs on a questionable call.

So quick question, what caused ND to get the bench minor in the last seconds of the game? They were taking a time out, how to you get a penalty during a TO? I assume some player lipped off to the ref but does anyone know?

Oh it was JJ for running his mouth? I was listening to Wally and Frank and they didn't say much about it, so I assumed it was some procedural faux pas.

On the TV broadcast they said it "must have been" that Jeff Jackson said something. There was no video of any exchange between the officials and JJ. The TV guys were not exactly on top of all things that game though, so it could have been another coach or player.

All Pat/Wally said was "How do you get a minor penalty after taking the timeout." "By using it to yell at the referee" (or something pretty close to that)
