I'm 50% factual and 50% sarcastic. When you get to know me, you will know which is which.
Free Barto!!!! Let Barto play a game next weekend and I don't mean 10 minutes like he did last night.
The Gophers are going to win next weekend no matter what. They could have me play goalie and it wouldn't matter.
BTW I use to like playing goalie. This might explain some of my posts. Goalies are normally a different breed.

Played goalie in boot hockey for many years, I agree and support this post.
When you tell somebody somethin', it depends on what part of the United States you're standin' in... as to just how dumb you are.
I loved watching shooters get pissed when I was having a good game. You will get nothing and like it!!!!!
Should be 2 sellouts. Man Gopher hockey is awesome.

This is MY crease. You get near me, I will punish you. I was influenced by Ron Hextall (intimidation), Jon Casey (out of crease), and Dominik Hasek (human slinky).

SWEEEEEP
On a side note, I think the U has done a great job with promotions this year. The blankets idea is awesome.
I liked played goalie in soccer and hockey. One time as a freshmen in high school I was playing a pick up soccer game with a bunch of older kids including seniors. None of them wanted to play goalie so they thought we will put the freshmen in goal. I was like sure. I made a few nice saves on one particular senior who was getting pissed at me for this so later when he got behind the defense and was in all alone on me rather than shooting for the one of the corners he purposely shoot it right at me from close range trying to show he was tough/scare me. I caught the ball at my stomach but since he was so close the ball literally impaled me and I lost my breath for a couple of minutes. The game stopped so my friend could check on me. After finally getting my breath back I took a drink of water and went back to playing goalie. The senior had a look like why does he still want to play? #TrueStoryNoExaggeration

First question you asked yourself: Did it go in?
That's kinda how I fell into goalie mode. I don't have a shot whatsoever. I was a good defensive guy. Lack of goalie led me to "sure, why not?" And found my niche.

My all time favorite Gopher is Robbie Stauber. Gopher highlights start at the 40 second mark of the video. At the 2:05 mark the Badgers have a 2 on 0 and get stoned!!!! ?
Stauber lead the team in checks!!!!!
@the-rube Those actual hockey goalies influenced your boot hockey career?
I had to learn from someone! It's not like I played the sport outside of pickup hockey.

No wonder this board is so weird. Full of goalies
How do you watch ESPNU on a laptop again?
Not knowing what to do, they do what they know . . .
Knowing what to do, they sometime don't do it . . .
The 26th year of the Gopher Men's Hockey Profile got to be too much for this ol' codger to handle . . . what with all of the possible activity on the transfer portal . . . . So, I'm closing it down at the 25th year . . .
How do you watch ESPNU on a laptop again?
You go to Gophersports.com, click on tickets, then come and watch the game in person?
Gophers need 5 points this weekend to eclipse last year’s 55. That’s mind boggling considering how good this season has been.
The Gophers have a 15 point/5 game lead in the toughest conference in the country. Let that sink in. ?
Since November 11th they've played 23 games and only lost 2 in regulation (the 3 on 3 regular season overtime isn't that important - not used in the playoffs). By the time they play their next game that is 3 and a half months.
It has been an incredibly entertaining season. My wife reluctantly agreed to get season tickets this year, as she didn’t grow up watching much hockey growing up but knew how much I love the Gophers. She is now “all in”, and it’s been a joy to see her learn the intricacies of the game. She already said we are renewing our season tickets for next year lol. I’d love to see this season end with a win.
4 points. Take at least 4 points and win the season series with all 6 teams. That’d be cool.

So we should be looking for a MichelleEruzione posting on GPL soon? It will be good to get her insights into the team. Although, this season might spoil her. With all the guys who are likely to leave after this season I'm thinking some additional patience will be needed from us fans for next year's team.
My experience is that female fans tend to be more level headed and don't get down as much when the team is struggling some.
This past weekend was a ton of fun and I’m nit picking a bit now but this weekend against OSU I’d like to see much of the same but I’d also like to see Nelson get back to his pre Christmas self. Winning face offs and getting on the scoresheet.
For this weekend I want a Barto shut out. Is that asking for too much? I think not.

One thing I think is interesting is that Nelson last year had a shot scoring % of 10.9 and this year it has dropped to 8.8
It really stands out for Huglen who last season had a shot scoring % of 13.7 and this year it has dropped all the way to 5.2
Both are taking a lot more shots this season but so far have been less effective with their shots. Hopefully it end ups just being a case of saving some goals for the playoffs. ?
As the president of the Farm Kid fan club, it just seems something is off with him. I'm thinking he is playing through something. His face-off % is down, is off the 1st unit PP etc. He did play better this past game as he had a couple of passes that just missed Brodzinski for good opportunities. Hope he gets back to the pre break Farm Kid form.

I wonder if OSU will come in a day early to avoid the worst part of the storm on Thursday.

Calling a sweep. Gophers have been dominant on the big sheet.

She has been listening to the weekly Motzko podcasts and weekly media scrums with Bob and two players. I never would have envisioned that. However, I don't think she will ever get a forum account anytime soon lol!
Saturday is sold out. Lets get Friday sold out also.

That is what people said last year. We have a lot that will return and we might have a few players coming in that will do aight 😉
She gets to see what it means to reload!
I have a single ticket for Saturday's game that I can't use, section 17 row 13 at the top of the face off circle where the Gophers shoot twice. Paid $38 I think, $30 on venmo or paypal and I can transfer it to you. Listing in the Tickets section but thought I would mention it here too.
@handyman No need to even reload— Faber, Knies, Cooley, and Snuggerud, among others, all have eligibility so we will be set. Can you imagine that line in two years when Knies is a senior ?
We need some boosters with very deep pockets to get some substantial NIL money, like SEC football.
The hockeydb roster is interesting. For example, Pitlick and Hugely are nearly as old as Brodzinski and Lacombe, and Close is over a year older than anyone else and SIX years older than Cooley and Snuggerud.

IMO even if Faber and Chesley are ready to come back just give them the week off. No need to take any chances. Then full go for playoffs.
From Bob's radio show--
Been a solid hockey team all year long. Won it in convincing fashion.
Would rather play through instead of having the bye. Brought up the only 7 team conference again.
Didn't like the goal they gave up to tie game. Said they made 3 huge mistakes on that play.
Penn St plays a style that you don't see much.
Praised Brody Lamb. Could have had a couple of goals.
Going to have to do something different when coming off the bye in the playoffs.
Praised the play of Fish. Koster is playing his best hockey. Talked about the defensemen as a whole.
Ohio St. will be a factor the rest of the way. They have a ton to play for.
They are 4 lines deep with lots of veterans.
We are much better than when we played them in October
Went on another rant about the B1G playoff format. Would rather only have 2 weekends of playoffs.
I'm 50% factual and 50% sarcastic. When you get to know me, you will know which is which.
What if they did home quarterfinal series like they already do then host a 4 team tournament at the highest seed’s home rink? That way the tournament would only have 2 weeks. Then you do run the risk of the 1 seed losing in the semi’s and having an empty championship game…
I like Bob a lot, but what is his end goal here constantly pounding away at the 7 team issue on a radio show? It’s just going to sound like an excuse if the team doesn’t perform. The off week sucks but use it as a week to get as healthy as possible
Figure it out during the off-season or behind the scenes.
Maybe use it as a chance to figure out how to stay sharp coming out of a bye cause news flash, the FF is after a bye week.

This is the best solution for the time being. This is where it hurts to have a conference spread out and not drivable for most teams like the old WCHA.
I wish someone would sit down and ask Bob what he would propose without him getting a bit surly about it. It is ok to be against the current format, but at the same time come up with a temporary solution until they get the 8th team.

That's the idea. IIRC what's been blocking that is that the Kohl Center and Value City Arena are being used for high school tournaments the third week of March each year, so neither Wisco nor OSU could host even if they win the regular season crown.

I've been saying this for a couple of years now. Keep the quarterfinals best of 3 and the #1 seed gets a bye. The #1 seed host a two-day tourney. Semi's on Friday and the Final on Saturday. Yes, you do risk the #1 seed losing in the semi's. Though if the BIG sells it as a 3-game package would help. IMO, I much rather take the risk of #1 seed losing in the semi's (which would happen) some years and have the tourney done in 2 weekends over the current format of 3 weekends.
Keep your stick on the ice...

Make's no sense. What if wisconSIN or OSU wins the regular season now.

They can shoehorn in a game, just not a 3-game bracket.

@maroon_and_gold Yeah, an empty arena for the championship game is not ideal, which is definitely what would happen in that situation.
There are Pros and cons with every setup. I don't mind the current format other than getting an 8th team in conference to avoid the #1 seed bye situation. Last years Mariucci Michigan game was a blast and I hope we have it again this year.
If one wanted to condense it to 2 weeks I would suggest Semi Finals on Thursday Championship Saturday, with the higher seed hosting. Travel would be tight because I don't think Sunday is an option. (No conference last year had a title game on Sunday, the Selection show is usually in the NCAA afternoon on Sunday)
They can shoehorn in a game, just not a 3-game bracket.
Have you ever tried to shoehorn a hockey game during a basketball tournament. It's not happening.

I don't think it was basketball.
I'm trying to look up the discussions that were taking place back in 2016. I vaguely remember somebody didn't want to block out both the third Friday and Saturday of March because they were making money hosting other events. Chris Dilks mentions the semifinals being each one game for this reason, so maybe I'm misremembering all these years later.

The wisconSIN hockey state tournament is the first weekend in March (not at the Kohl) and boys basketball is the 3rd weekend at the Kohl.

And it looks like Ohio plays their tournament for basketball at Dayton.

only thing that worries me about that is if they were to sit and we lose the semis, they’re only playing one game in what, 4-5 weeks? Obviously if they’re not 100%, sit them. But if they are, I’d have them go
Faber isn't 100% I'd nearly guarantee. I've had that injury. He won't be ready this week and there is no reason to push him.

has it been confirmed as an AC separation or are we still in sleuthing world of GPL? Not trying to nitpick, honestly just wondering if it’s been said
