One could parallel Vikings/Twins: look at the tools the coach has, and what he could do with them. Frankly, MN has won with defense, today being the gold star of that parallel. 3 net passing yards, D gets 6 TOs (Det had 8 TOTAL prior to this game), and it still took that huge run by Addison to basically ice it. The Gink just twisted the knife.
That being said, JJ did okay against sub-par defenses, and given expectations, he should have. It's a first step.

OL has been inconsistent because of injuries but McCarthy has been consistently inconsistent no matter what the OL play. You have to dig deep to find franchise level QB play from him.

If you think Darnold or Jones at far more Cap hit than McCarthy (meaning less flexibility to add FA pieces) would have overcome the Vikings shitty OL and poor defensive play at untimely moments would have saved the Vikings this year I have a bridge...

This hand injury isn't about not being able to play with pain it is about being able to grip the ball.
Two weeks ago the fumble return by the NY Giants defense right before half time was because his grip/ability to hang onto the ball was compromised. Here is a replay of the play he tries to ground the ball but couldn't hold onto to the ball and the play where his hand hits the Giants players helmet injuring his hand.

He could have easy sat out today but he played through the pain the first half risking the injury getting worse which it did during the game to help his team which he did in getting a 13-0 lead by halftime.
