This was more the worrisome part to me of him coming out of college (that and reading a defense which is always a worry). Windows are much smaller and he’s missing layups when he has them at times

I didn’t watch the 2nd half. That performance tonight by the Vikings was utterly embarrassing! End of story! This season is all about getting McCarthy experience & gauging his ability as a starting QB. That said, it certainly STINGS losing to Atlanta at home.

I'm not ready to panic quite yet on McCarthy. I trust that KOC will get him prepared. There are some definite areas of concern. He's slow at reading a defense. Doesn't seem to set up the blocking very well (that's partly on KOC and the center). His arm strength doesn't look the greatest either. He doesn't need a strong arm if he's accurate, but he's struggling with that too.
The answer while he works through these growing pains may be running with McCarthy to slow down the pass rush. It has worked in the past with Josh Allen, Mahomes, and Lamar. They all run way less than they used to, but it originally gave them time to get the rest of the game straight.
McCarthy is Something like 64 and 4 since his second year of High school football I hope he gets better in the NFL

I'm not sure arm strength is a concern - if anything there have been a few throws that needed a bit less pep and more finesse.
This is also a QB playing behind a patchwork OL and the coaches haven't quite yet figured out how to scheme to keep JJ protected.
The big question mark for me is can he adjust to the speed of the NFL game. At Michigan the opponents are more often than not over-matched, and a QB is going to have time to hold the ball as well as a lot of open space for his receivers. He's going to have to learn to get rid of it quicker and learn how to toss a ball the defender can't reach. I think the 1st INT vs. ATL was just such a throw.

He was not able to work on any of this last year which was the plan. Unfortunately for his best development they need to walk last year back and he needs to be the back up, learn, and practice.

The amazing plays by Rodgers notwithstanding, the schemes by Flores in that first half probably got him a HC spot next year. Unless there’s some collusion going on he deserves it.
