The US mixed doubles curling team is into the semis. They were on playing lights out Sunday afternoon and seems like they’re hitting their stride. Good shot for at least a medal. Semis at 11am on Monday. Mixed doubles is also much more chaotic and more scoring than normal curling.

@jupiter I wondered about that too, a friend who is a competitive skier said no. Vonn qualified for the team weeks before she blew out her ACL. The ski team doesn’t have alternates, so if she would have dropped out, no one else was stepping in. You qualify for the US team by your points in international competition. So even before the Olympics you are qualifying against the world, not just US skiers. It’s why there’s no downhill skiers from Jamaica, they could be the best skier in all of Jamaica but they have no world points. Should Vonn have skied at all? Thats a different question, but she didn’t cause another skier to miss out.
Vonn qualified for the team in December, she blew out her knee in late January.

Vonn qualified based on doing well the last year or so. It was her spot to compete. I get it looks bad that she crashed in 13 seconds, but it was always going to be all or nothing from her. That’s the way she has raced her entire career. If the other person didn’t do enough to qualify, they have no gripe about how Vonn did.

Just bad luck and, from my untrained eye, it didn't look like the crash had anything to do with her knee. Just cutting a turn as close to the gate as possible and she caught it with her pole just as she was getting air and she spun easily. Bummer.

I really enjoy watching curling as well. Some of the throws these Olympians do, are mind boggling crazy.

we were talking about that, I don’t know drones but think that one has to almost be programmed to go down that stretch of track that it does then peels off in the same spot. First morning of the games watching skiing I said to myself what is that noise? Thought ok gotta be the camera on a zip line, then seen the drones’ shadow.😂 pretty cool. The big air snow boarding has really cool drone work, looks like it’s pretty close to them at times.

US loses and takes silver. Some mistakes in the final end plus Sweden amazing shot making hurt throughout. Overall a great performance. Now it’s on to the full men’s and women’s teams.
