Tough break. Broken stick makes that all happen. Boys are playing well I think.
Buckeyes starting to pull their usual cheap crap. Sabo was a thug on his old team too, I remember from Alaska’s visit to Mariucci last year.
Clymer was right- how did neither of the wings think to at least swap coverage with Moe? Don’t gotta give him your stick, just tell him go up high, all of them played center growing up
Gotta clear that puck out of the slot. But good to see Hendy get rewarded. The guy is a gamer.
End of 2, Gophs up 3-2.

Guys are playing well so far. A couple weird ones for the Buckeyes. Luca looks good.

got scrambling and stopped communicating. That’s a simple adjust and they went full mites on it and just chased puck. Happens. Gotta learn from it
It's really bugging Clymer that we've had 3 power plays and OSU has had none. Gotta call it even? How about not committing so many penalties?

OSU could have been called for twice that many penalties so far…
Montes 3-3.

Whoever is setting up our faceoffs in the d zone needs to be smacked in the head

Lamb 4-3.

Lamb with a great stick with it play
LAMB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Incapable of playing with a lead, so frustrating.
Big response from Lamb. Tighten it up now.
Getting outworked.

Worst 6-3 road win ever
Defended a little too much for my liking in the third. Overall they looked pretty solid though. That Lamb goal in the third was the whole game.
The Gophers have won 4 of their last 5 games and 6 of their last 8 games.
In terms of the first game of the weekend they've won three straight and 4 of the last five.
This is the most confusing team I have ever had the absolute pleasure of watching hahah.
Can score 3 goals in 3 minutes, can go 50 minutes without a goal, can not let a goal in for 60 minutes, can let in 2 in 2 minutes. It's like a surprise bag every time I get to watch
Getting outworked.
You are correct. Ohio State was outworked.
Looking down from my High Horse

Not very objective
Ludtke was a stud in the defensive zone tonight, especially down the stretch.
Can’t take Luca out of the net tomorrow. He looks confident.
Good win!!!
We're comin
Can’t take Luca out of the net tomorrow. He looks confident.
The unpredictability of Luca had been a very bizarre part of the year. Light out against Notre dame then the absolute woofer against LIU. Also took the L vs MTU. But agree he’s been really solid the last 2 times out which feels weird to say when he’s given up 5 and 3 goals in the 2 games
We're comin
we finish the sweep and it feels a whole lot more doable than post the LIU weekend when it felt awfully bleak
25ish SOG right? If we were this efficient at scoring every year, we’d probably be looking to five-peat as national champs by now.
still struggling to maintain consistent in zone pressure and string shifts together imo, and that really has to be fixed before we face Wisconsin, Michigan, and State.
He's growing into a role? Maybe he's one that needs a lot of game time to get into a groove? I dunno. Some goalies can flip that switch, I don't think he's that guy.
When you tell somebody somethin', it depends on what part of the United States you're standin' in... as to just how dumb you are.
The Power Play had a momentum changing goal after Ohio State scored first.
The Power Play is now 8 for the last 17 (47 %).
The Gophers never went shorthanded tonight. The best way to not give up a power play is to not take penalties.
A very discipline hard working effort tonight results in a nice road win without a key defensemen (Gruba).
The team lost quite a few games earlier in the season due to special teams struggles now they are winning games due to a power play that is really clicking.
Lots of positives tonight.
Faceoffs is not one of them....oi !

The Gophers have scored on 11.5 % of their shots which is tied for 8th in the country. If they continue to improve on getting the puck out of their own zone that level of offensive efficiency will likely result in some nice wins against top teams in the second half of the season.
This team has more talent than a lot of people think. The problem is this team has some holes that got exploited early in the season and with 10 of the 14 forwards being underclassmen (5 freshmen and 5 sophomores) they weren't ready yet to offset enough of the down moments in games.
Lately we aren't having as many down moments and are starting to mature as a team where we can response better when we do. In each of the last two games our opponent tied the game in the third period but even on the road we responded right back to win both games.
Up to 29 in the NPI (36 coming in)
Plus, way to stay out of the penalty box. Besides the matching minors, no penalties. And I didn’t see an obvious missed penalty to put OSU on the pp. I think the stripes missed a trip on OSU in the 2nd, but were reluctant to call and put the Gophers on a 5x3. And the stripes very well could’ve reviewed two hits and put the Gophers on 5 minute pp. The bottom line, they stayed out of the box, which imo is their weakest part of their game.
Lots of positives tonight.

Yep the faceoffs in the first period were 10-10. The faceoffs the last two periods were Ohio State 34-14.
This definitely was the main reason we played in the D zone more in the second and third periods.
On the positive side the shots were only Ohio State 10-8 in the 3rd period which is a sign the Gophers did a good job overall handling losing faceoffs. Having said that hopefully the faceoffs are better tomorrow like they have been in other games.
This just in Ziemer likes to shot the puck (Snuggy Jr 😊 ) he has 70 shots on goal this season next after him is Lamb 47, Mooney 42, and Luke Mitts 35.
Hendrickson continues to pull away at +13 next on the team is Rombach, Whipple and Moe all at +5.
Ziemer and Mooney are both -4. Only McLaughlin is worse at -6.
This team definitely has another level it can get to if the top line plays + hockey more consistently.

5 empty nets against for those guys certainly don’t help
Good, gritty win last night on the road. Like Ramsey said on the broadcast with Wally, that last stretch of the third period before our first ENG was bend don’t break. But despite their record OSU is no slouch and we knew that they would be throwing everything at the Gophers. Big goal from Lamb to drive the net and stick with it to get his own rebound and then good on the guys for blocking shots and tightening things up to eventually get the empty netter. Would be big to get the sweep tonight but obviously we know OSU is going to come out swinging. They don’t want to get swept at home. But it’s one more game until the break. Just bear down, guys, and get the win. Also, been mentioned plenty before but the biggest negative to last night? That arena is depressing for OSU hockey. Hardly anyone there in a giant morgue clearly made for basketball.
I thought I heard that OSU is thinking of building a smaller arena for their hockey team
Aloha!

OSU is 110% a football college. And I expect the attendance to be less tonight. With the series being BIG Football Championship weekend, last one out of town turns off the lights. A smaller arena would help, though is would still have been a morgue.
I was at series in OSU several years ago. Friday night we sat in the 100 level and Saturday night we were in the 200 level. You shouldn't sell or open the 200 level when the 100 level is half full. It's like Target Field opening the 200 level when the 100 level is a morgue. You have to think outside the box and bits the bullet when it comes to tickets and sales. Try your best to find a plan to make it look fuller than really is, save on staffing and concessions. Upgrading fan's tickets would be pennies on the dollar in what they are shelling out to keep more levels and sections open.

It's been discussed on the GPL podcast when Caponigri is on. It's always been in talks, OSU has the money and space, but until some donor like Pegula or Compton step in, it'll set on the back burner.
You win tonight and you give yourself an outside chance at making the NCAA tournament with a solid back half of the season. Sounds silly, but I think tonight is the biggest game of the year so far.

See The Grand Excel Arena Casino Center Energy during the Class A tourney. Open the upper level only if/when it's required.

Does anyone know if any media people have done a “here’s what the old Pairwise would look like right now, if we were still using it” type analysis?
CHN still has a page up for PWR although their updates have been a little inconsistent lately for a few things.
