I wonder when the schedule was made, did the BIG make the schedule to be Thu & Fri with the idea of OSU possibly playing in the BIG Championship for football.

I wouldn't be surprised if OSU drove that decision....as they expect to be in the game annually.
Even if they aren’t they probably don’t want to compete with it.
Had to be OSU driven.
Wisconsin/Notre Dame and Michigan/Michigan State are all playing a normal Friday/Saturday series.
The Gophers need to focus on the NPI the rest of the season. Ohio State is #24, Gophers #36. Making the NCAA tournament (which will be tough). Beat the Notre Dames, Ohio States and split with the Top 4 #2 Michigan, #3 Wisconsin, #9 Michigan St, #10 Penn St will get them very close (bubble team)

Split on the road, sweep at home as the old saying goes. Although this year that saying might be split at home and just don’t get swept on the road. Either way, I’m going 3 points.
I'm curious to see how the Gophers react to that 1-1-3 zone. They played good against BC, Penn St, and Denver who like to go up and down. Playing a team that clogs the neutral zone has been Coach Motzkos achilles heel in the past. I would love a sweep, but a win and a tie would be fine also.
We always seem to have some sort of trouble at Ohio St. At least one game is weird. I’d expect a split, but am really hopeful for a sweep.
My brain's been fried lately, so I'm still processing the Denver game (heck I'm still processing most of November's games). I'm not sure how I expected that game to unfold, but how it did with a defensive 1st and a shootout 3rd wasn't it, so I'm a bit hesitant to predict this weekend. Judging by schedules to date, OSU looks like they've been stumbling along almost as much as Notre Dame has, so I'd like to think we just need to take care of business to close out the first half as we continue to get better, but let's see how the games play out.

think OSU is better than their record. 0-4 in OT and has played 8/14 on the road (this is part of why their NPI is so high comparatively; the home/road weighting is whack). not a juggernaut, but this is going to be a tough/grinding series. A split is needed and anything extra will be a plus. We're right next to each other in KRACH right now
Said before Denver they needed to go 1-1-1 or better in these 3 to be sitting at least with a chance going into the back half of the year. They pull off more than that and it at least makes it "easier" comparatively given how hard they've already made it on themselves with the losses to MTU and LIU (imagine we'd all feel much better about their odds if they were 9-7-1 rather than 7-9-1 at this point)
OSU only has 4 pts in 6 games, but they have 4 losses vs Wisco and Michigan so we might expect them to be better than their record indicates.

they split (and lost in OT) vs Wisco. Swept by PSU (were leading going into the 3rd on Friday) and Michigan
Guessing split, surprised with more, disappointed with less. Certainly won’t help being down Gruba.

OSU and Wisco have always had really strange results against each other for the last 3 years or so, I wouldn’t put too much weight on that series

for sure. more just clarifying OPs 4 losses comment.

Breakout series for Pahlsson?

and he’s playing with Mooney and Ziemer.. ugh. He has been brutal.
Switch him and Moe.

We really need a sweep, otherwise it’s a very tough climb back to .500 this year. Can’t leave any points on the table between OSU and ND, considering how the rest of B1G looks so far.
Also, the NPI is annoying me. It was meant to smooth out random statistical quirks while still mostly arriving at the same overall result as the Pairwise. OSU is 5-9 with a weak schedule and no strong wins over any of the top teams, it’s absurd they’re higher than us in December with that resume.
Does anyone know if any media people have done a “here’s what the old Pairwise would look like right now, if we were still using it” type analysis?
I know it’s only two game but I really hope McLaughlin takes advantage of the available ice time with Gruba out. There’s actual legitimate upside there unlike 15 and 33. Rooting for the kid.

Super dirty hit from eisley to end the period
Pretty ho hum period
Agreed.
When you tell somebody somethin', it depends on what part of the United States you're standin' in... as to just how dumb you are.
Super dirty hit from eisley to end the period
The Gophers challenging the hit on Luke Mitts between periods would be "interesting".
And the early penalty that they called boarding looked like it could have been reviewed for 5.Super dirty hit from eisley to end the period

Keep it going

Glad to see Hendrickson's play finally getting rewarded. He's been in on so many goals, he deserved one for himself

Really bad hockey shift from the young gophers there
Right before the Hendrickson goal Lamb took a blatant cross check to the back while in the slot and somehow the ref chose to not call it. Probably because the power plays are 3-0 but nowhere in the rule book does it say to ignore blatant penalties just because one team is committing more penalties.
