No grade As on a 5 min PP there isn't ideal... I was hoping we'd find some of the magic our top unit's often had. Felt like we were a little more flat footed than when we're really clicking
Good effort though. Felt like we played a more cohesive game than most nights as far as supporting the puck and connecting passes goes. Had our lapses as this team will but that's a good team on the other side... also hilarious to see them celebrate as if we're at our regular standard and not in the 30s for NPI. Goes to show how much we've dominated Yost in recent years
Actually got some good looks though. Shame the top unit can’t play all 5 minutes.
The one power move where ivankovic loses his stick was the only good chance on 5 min of pp. The second unit needs to be a Moore ass in front and immediately shoot the puck.
there was just no urgency and the complete lack of a whistle definitely hurt for giving the top unit more time I agtee
I’ll give Michigan credit as they adjusted and penned Mooney in better and they lost their high cycle Mooney in the mcdavid style pp they’d worked really well (same one PSU runs for McKenna)
I’ll take the weekend as they competed for a full 120 against a top 2 team. Agree with that if you had the team this weekend at the beginning of the year yes they’re on the bubble but this team two weeks ago also went 0-1-1 against nd

Moore had a point blank look in the bumper spot, Ziemer had a one timer in the middle of the slot, and Ludtke was banging away at a loose puck on the goal line but I agree overall they didn’t look their best.
Michigan probably should’ve beat us both games but their goalie let in a somewhat weak goal to Ludtke and they couldn’t finish the first game. As far as Michigan state, losing 5-1 at home to OSU isn’t great obviously but they were on a tear before that other than one OT loss to Michigan. They’re the best team in the NPI with Michigan second. I suppose it’s possible that the NACHO or Hockey East teams are better but the gophers split with the Fighting Chickens and while it was very lucky they did beat Denver too, I gotta imagine the Michigan teams would be favored against just about anyone in the NCAA.

they will be favored against everyone yes
Michigan is 4-3-1 heading into the postseason
MSU has been on a tear until last night but also looked like they may lose to ND for stretches in their last series
PSU just got outplayed handily by ND last night but got the tie (outshot 36-21 in regulation and outchanced heavily)
I think the league is really good and deep across the board just is kind of a bizarre last few weeks
