in all seriousness, seems like Michigan has become our biggest rivalry just because of how good both teams have been. Split is fine, anything more is great. They’re going to be hyped up so I expect a very physical series

I watched both MSU/Mich games this past weekend and I must say, Michigan just isn’t that good plain and simple. They scored 3 goals all weekend and one was on a 5 on 3. They never really looked dangerous unless they were on the PP. Keep the games 5 on 5 and I really like our odds.

To be fair, you could have concluded that MN just isn't that good after watching us play MSU a few weeks ago.

Yeah I don’t remember Red’s teams playing North Dakota style hockey.
Even Hage got tossed Saturday night --- almost a misconduct which would have been nice.
But when they got behind to MSU, they pulled the same Fighting Sioux-solverine stuff they did against the Gophers. So much high end talent (obviously down this year) to play such bush league hockey.
Also, for my money, it doesn't get much worse than Fred Pletch (student announcers aside)

This will be a big test as Michigan is coming off of a highly charged series and we had the bye, which was probably as Bob said, well timed. I worry about the tendency of this team to start slow, so hoping they come out hard and do not get drawn into any stupid penalties. Our PK is not stellar, and if I recall, M PP is very good. Michigan is different than the first time we played them.
Hage didn’t play as he was hurt. Horcoff also was not on the roster. In net they are rolling with Korpi and he was much better than Stein when we played them.

THIS! Every, and I mean EVERY team is capable of beating you or stealing a game. You cannot come out flat and expect that to be a recipe for success. I expect the team to come out hard, play the style we need to play to win, and be disciplined! We can beat anyone that way.

From a bird’s eye view the Gophers are just a way better team. Offense, defense, goaltending, the works. BUT I still expect Mich to come out with some fire after we embarrassed them earlier in the year.
