Yeah they don't need to fix anything when it's already this lopsided. And that quickly I turned the game off. The fix is in already and I’m not gonna watch it. That was definitely goalie interference and the stripes just look at what they wanna look at.
this game is not remotely competitive nor have any of the last 3 games. The xG is like 16-6 even with Carolina taking multiple periods off
Sometimes, hockey is like the red headed stepchild of sports. Ostensibly, the semi-finals should consist of four pretty equally matched teams slugging it out to move on. Instead, we got an 8-1 win-loss record for the teams moving on.
I do think the finals will be close, and for me it's #anyonebutvegas

It’s a dud of a Stanley Cup Final… Carolina sweeping would be fine with me.
#anyonebutvegas
Agreed. Not at all a Carolina fan, but I suppose they're not as objectionable as Vegas, and cheering for Reilly to get his name on the cup is something I can easily do.
Carolina v Colorado definitely would’ve been more entertaining but injuries and getting out goaltended doomed them if I had to guess.
It's a ranked list of defensemen with the most points, with some personal adjustments added in for flavor.
Quinn not being in the top 5 of voting is absurd. He literally changed the trajectory of the franchise when he stepped foot in Minnesota.
I agree. On that list I would trade Quinn for Cale Makar and that is it.
Think the first 3 were pretty straightforward. Rest have flaws. Bouchard with a ton of points but you get to pp with mcdavid and drai and he’s a so so defender to me. Seider does a lot well, but nothing where he dominates taking over games. Hutson gets the benefit of this Montreal team excelled a year probably before expected and he’s viewed as a big part of that, but no chance i put him ahead of Hughes, but it’s happening because of Faber
this would’ve been my vote.
werenski
Makar
dahlin
Hughes
Seider
deserved for werenski. Hughes is getting dinged by his relatively lesser goals and that he doesn’t pk while being viewed as having the best d partner of the guys on the list in faber. Game control is a really hard thing to quantify for a lot of people
I hate Dallas and the Stars my sister lives in Plano TX

Statistically this seems to be up there with John Tyler's (US President 1841-1845) grandson dying in 2025.

Larkin requesting trade out of Detroit per Friedman.
really really surprises me. He and Stevie must’ve had something happen but would imagine he’s not going to let him go cheaply given he’s local and the captain
Larkin was pissed 2 years ago when Yzerman failed to add anything to their team at the trade deadline. I'm guessing that missing the playoffs yet again this year didn't help.Larkin requesting trade out of Detroit per Friedman.

This is great news for the Wild. Would be a great fit. Should help to get Matthews off his ass and make a decision as well. Things are falling into place for Guerin to make some noise. Really hope he can put it all together.

I get him being pissed, but his demands have also been a massive part of the problem there with basically leaving in the same purgatory the Wild did but on the opposite side of the bubble. They actually have a pretty solid farm system but I think the wings are going to want draft picks and young talent in spades if moving him. Given they are very set with their young goalies, I don’t see what we can offer that would be remotely competitive in what he’d fetch and Yzerman has to know if he doesn’t look like he comes out ahead with this deal, he’s going to get fired
Larkin is probably tired of the never ending Yzerplan being a permanent rebuild with no playoff births for a decade.Larkin requesting trade out of Detroit per Friedman.

Detroit has no leverage. Yzerman will get bent over by whatever team(s) Larkin is willing to go to. The package from Minnesota would be the same as it likely would for Matthews. One of Brodin/Spurgeon for cap purposes, one maybe two of Wallstedt, Yurov, Stramel, probably a 1st round pick and maybe some other prospect fodder like a Lambos, Heidt, Haight, Spacek, Ritchie.Larkin was pissed 2 years ago when Yzerman failed to add anything to their team at the trade deadline. hes under contract until 2030. People said the same thing about trocheck. There are like 3 centers that may get moved with a whole hell of a lot of teams who want them. Wally is the only chip we have that moves the needle. We tried to ship Wally and Yurov for trocheck and they said no and it’s not like Yurov has now escalated his stock like Wally.
the benefit that’s far more likely is it makes less teams in the running for trocheck or any other center who appears. Larkin was pissy 2 years ago too. We’ll see how he feels as the summer moves on as they have prospects and will more grade a talent from teams like Philly or Montreal or Boston than we can offer for their positions of need if they move him
if they would do it for what you mention, I’m definitely in on Billy doing it, just Think that’s light for what they’ll get for a guy under longer control with multiple young contenders he fits the bill super well for

sorry sorry. Mixed up the Thomas offer.
also what’s Larkin going to do? Sit out in his home state as the captain until 2030? If he’s going to be a diva, unless someone knocks the doors off id hold him until the deadline when overpaying is rife
On the trade demand, supposedly neither did Larkin or his agent or anyone with the wings. Why would yzerman cave to a player who has no leverage who will get crucified by the fans if he tried to force his way somewhere? The fans already don’t like him

Yzerman loses his job if he trades his under contract 1C for a guy that's at best going to be a 2C (maybe) and a couple of bottom 6/AHL caliber guys. That's my whole point is he's not going to trade him for anything less than a guy who can be a future 1C and picks or 1st line winger plus a FRP.
As a Wings fan after the Wild (I grew up a Wings fan), the fanbase is already sour on Larkin (him being terrible down the stretch yet again did not win any fans, particularly after going partying after winning gold). This coming out has not furthered his cause, especially just weeks after he said how in he was on the team and he wanted to be back and to win the SC here.
I agree with you Yzerman is sort of in a lose-lose unless he gets a big haul for Larkin (possibly as part of a package with Cossa). But panic trading him right away for a team with minimal assets is an almost sure-fire way for you to end up losing the fanbase and being out of a job.
Stevie is a pretty damn poor GM so maybe he dumps him for a bunch of futures, but I don't think he's obtuse enough to think this fanbase is going to tolerate continuing to miss the playoffs.
You keep discussing this like Yzerman has options. Yzerman has no leverage. If Larkin says he wants out, he's going to trade him. There's really no other option. He can give meaningless quotes to the press about not having to do anything because he's under contract, but that's not what will actually happen.Everybody always says the same thing. "we don't have to do anything. what's he going to do sit out?" All he has to do is threaten to sit out and Yzerman loses his job.
The fans already don’t like him
Yzerman loses his job if he trades his under contract 1C for a guy that's at best going to be a 2C and a couple of bottom 6/AHL caliber guys.
I agree with you Yzerman is sort of in a lose-lose unless he gets a big haul for Larkin.
If Larkin decides there's only 1 team he will accept a trade to, then Yzerman is going to trade him to that team. It's more likely that Larkin gives him a few teams that he would be willing to go to, but it's not a certainty. Dragging a guy like Larkin through the mud does nothing for the Red Wings now or in the future.
Yzerman might lose his job regardless. Michiganders are getting impatient. But screwing around on this will make it happen faster.
The fan base will take Yzerman's side at the start of this, if it drags past the summer and into next season, they will turn on Yzerman and swing to Larkin's side. if Larkin is serious about wanting out, then Yzerman will trade him for the best deal he can make under the parameters set by Larkin himself.Trocheck didn't demand a trade. You have no idea what was offered for Trocheck by the Wild. No chance that Wallstedt and Yurov were offered together.Detroit has no leverage. I'm guessing that missing the playoffs yet again this year didn't help.Larkin requesting trade out of Detroit per Friedman.
really really surprises me. He and Stevie must’ve had something happen but would imagine he’s not going to let him go cheaply given he’s local and the captain
Given they are very set with their young goalies, I don’t see what we can offer that would be remotely competitive in what he’d fetch and Yzerman has to know if he doesn’t look like he comes out ahead with this deal, he’s going to get fired
hes under contract until 2030. People said the same thing about trocheck. There are like 3 centers that may get moved with a whole hell of a lot of teams who want them. Wally is the only chip we have that moves the needle. We tried to ship Wally and Yurov for trocheck and they said no and it’s not like Yurov has now escalated his stock like Wally.

there will not be one team. If he tries to say that, yes Yzerman won’t move him. Do you not remember what he did to Drouin in Tampa?
im not saying he’s going to send him down, but it’s going to lead to them talking about this and coming up with a realistic list of who Larkin will go to and what it will take to move him. Larkin is professional enough he is not going to say fuck you to Detroit, because if he does, yes that’s going to affect him and if they’ll move him.
I suspect he gets traded. I suspect it’s for more than what the Wild can offer or at least a more intriguing offer than Yurov and picks/picks+Stramel based on who wants him. Theres no reason Yzerman is going to rush a trade that will decide his fate unless he gets an offer that looks great (it’s also part of why he’s ended up looking dumb at times not moving guys when he should, but it’s who he is)

glad I’m not the only one. That his nickname is ghost does not help
Hart is definitely outplaying Anderson in this one, it just seems like Carolina always has to completely dominate their opposition to make up for it.
The Canes aren't done yet!!!!! We're tied at 2!!!!!
Weird challenge there.
The Canes have taken over up 3-2.
That was one of the dumbest challenges I’ve seen.

I was coming to say the same thing. I like Tortorella, but that was a boneheaded challenge.
Jackson Blake takes a REALLLLLLLYYYYYYY dumb penalty with 3 and half minutes left. Sue player doing Sue player things. 😉 😀
The teams play chill, defense oriented hockey, and then Vegas just shits down their leg followed by Carolina saying hold my beer. Insane 3rd
A Canes defensemen scores the game tying goal for Vegas with 1:21 left. Oops!!!!!!
What is people's prediction for the OT game winner?
My prediction is Vegas wins on a goal by William @karlsson
Torts made a dumb challenge, but that's Torts. He's aggressive. He just steams ahead.
I thought my "Canes in 6" was dunzo, then I had hope when they took the lead, and now we'll see....
When you tell somebody somethin', it depends on what part of the United States you're standin' in... as to just how dumb you are.

so alive now
I dunno the avg coaching term in the 4 major sports, and seems that Torts is basically 5yrs and done. Appears to be a great short-term hire, then he falls (or is kicked) off the cliff.

Canes win.
Come on seven games!

Good job on the announcers to shut the hell up after the OT goal for well over a minute to let you hear the sounds in the arena.
