There's no indication that Jack is asking to be traded, and I find it unlikely that he would right now.
Larkin would be a great fit for us. He's not the most elite of 1C's out there, but I don't think we need that. A good 1-2 punch with Ek would be huge for us. Not to mention he has played well with Boldy in international play.
The Wild can't offer what other teams probably could, but this is one of the scenarios where hopefully the NMC helps us. If we're one of only a couple teams that he'd go to, it's not like Yzerman can get true market value.
No reason to go after Jack now. Extend Quinn for a couple years and see if you can have Jack come over when his contract ends.

Kind of an interesting thing I dislike about the way it was called by the refs, but if disallowed for interference, would be nice to know if they would've overturned it if they felt no interference, or if there was intent to blow the whistle because ref though puck was frozen. If so, there is no way to overturn the call. On the other hand, if it is solely that it was interference, when the stick makes contact, you can see the puck loose and puck goes under the body and into the net (tbh I don’t think Vegas hits the puck or drives it in, I think it’s the Carolina player falling on him as that’s where you see it continue going through).
Agree felt like almost no chance it was going to be overturned and probably not worth it at that spot in the game if it's the former case, but if that's all it is, I really dislike the way the NHL goes and reviews plays (like it really should not take a challenge on a scoring play imo if all goals in the playoffs are reviewed in Toronto).
That is a wildly soft "interference" call when the puck is still loose when he goes for it and the puck never goes into his glove. If you're going to say well I thought it was covered so I felt the play is dead, then tell Torts that. Major bullshit to punish them for a call you're not going to overturn.

I lean on the side of the stripes. From the view of the official behind the net was the puck was frozen. Even if the puck crossed the line about .01 before the whistle. It’s the official’s intent to be the final say.
Though of the 4 major sports leagues, the NHL has the most mind boggling replay system and calls followed closely by the BIG in hockey. I can’t remember, which on it is. It might be Big 12 Football that has the live feed between the review room and the stripes.
Agreed, but they went with saying goalie interference was the reason. Thats why Tortorella challenged. Interference didn’t happen until Dorofeyev flew in late and the puck was already in the net.

I wouldn't have had a problem with him making that call, but he didn't. I don't even have a problem with the official calling goaltender interference right away, because there were a ton of bodies going every direction. Vegas had two goals called back in the first which ended 0-0. Then the Canes luck ran out. Too many men, a bad deflection into their own net, and Mich Marner later it’s all of a sudden 4-0 after two.
It was the rights calls on the challenges, regardless what Vegas fans are saying. Though the lid came off quick in the 2nd for Vegas.

I wasn’t necessarily trying to imply anything about the calls. I do concur however both were correct calls. Although I expect our rules expert to weigh in soon and we’ll probably find out why they should have been goals. 😉

Yeah that was a crazy game. Carolina kinda sleepwalked thru two periods but then go on to produce a flurry of goals and tie it. If they don’t score on themselves twice they very well could’ve won that game even though they kinda didn’t deserve to solely because of how bad they were the first 40 minutes. It’ll be interesting to see if they can start a game with a bit more urgency, they haven’t really done that yet this series (other than game 1).

the shots were 7-2 after the 1st and i think the attempts were like 3-1 in favor of Carolina
Carolina has dominated play for extended stretches (why they're dominating Corsi and Fenwick) but just isn't turning it into high danger opportunities nor cashing in. Vegas goes long stretches of nothing than hits with a high danger counter and is finishing (kind of what they've done all playoffs).
Vegas has really neutralized Carolina stringing shifts forechecking together like they usually do (and what we saw happen in the 3rd last night). Don't know if i've ever seen the wheels come off of both teams so extremely within the same game. Easily could've been 6 or 7 for Vegas in that 2nd period

The pivotal Game 5 is coming up. A whopping 65% of Game 5 winners win the Cup.
An interesting side note is that Carolina has not lost back-to-back games in months....
If Carolina wins Game 5, then Vegas will have to beat them at home and on the road in back-to-back games. That will be hard to do.
On the other hand, if Vegas wins, they'll be playing for the Cup at home...but they'll have to beat Carolina back-to-back, which no team has done since mid January.

They used to wait and hand them out at their awards banquet after the Stanley Cup Final. They have eliminated that, and now spread them out during the playoffs with surprise videos.
