  1. The Vikings are very likely the Super Bowl favorite right now if they had signed Rodgers this summer

This is actually becoming a realistic possibility for the 2026 season.

Darnold is wildly inconsistent.  His Passer Rtg the past 10 games including playoffs - most recent to least recent

  • 110.9
  • 97.9
  • 77.2
  • 84.2
  • 84.4
  • 111.7
  • 67.5
  • 118.1
  • 45.5
  • 111.8

His career On Target% is 65% while the league average is typically around 75%.

He could prove the fact I don't trust him wrong over the next 2 games.

That team is so well rounded that they don't need him to do much other than not pull a CJ Stroud.

I mean he was 5th in passing yards this year and 3rd in average play yards. He knows how to move the ball and get it down the field. 7th in competition % realistically probably higher, 3 guys above him played 11, 9 and 5 games. 9th in TDs (on a run heavy attempting team) and 11th in passer rating.

Yeah he's had a good season mainly because he has a lot to work with, PFF ranks him 9th. He's not a bad QB or total game manager.

He also plays on a team that has an insane commitment to the run by todays standards, 3rd in rushing attempts for a team that was 24th in yards per attempt. Seattle was 11th in rushing yards overall but they get there in a pound the ball way.

If it is a running situation, they will run, get first downs and keep the clock moving.

How that affects a QBs stats we will never know for sure but it is probably eating some yardage and TDs.

Either way Darnold has won a ton of games the last two years and put his team in a position to be there in the end. Last year it didn't work out, this year it is.

Him having two of the best RBs in the league definitely helps because it makes play action and offense in general that much more effective. Probably doesn't help the QB counting stats but anyone who understands the game knows that stats like that can't be divorced from their context (which you give here). PFF grades every play every individual makes so they obviously think he's effective at making the plays he needs to make. Either way I tend to agree with you that the Vikings probably should've kept him but they gambled on nine and it didn't pay off. Now they have a similar decision to make this offseason where they're most likely gonna have to pay someone.

Whether they overreacted to 2 games or just thought JJ was worth gambling on I don't know, it doesn't really matter at this point, we all saw the results of that decision.

They couldn't/wouldn't pay the contract he has now. Rather simple.

Well yeah no shit but now they have to pay a QB, it ain't gonna be cheap, and we all saw the results of delaying that decision for a year. I suppose technically they could pay someone like Mariota to compete for the job but even he probably gets a bigger contract than the 8 mil he got last year.

The difference between couldn't and wouldn't is huge, though. I don't know the reasons behind the decision. I know the deciding factor in Danny Dimes was that he was basically told: you're the backup.

They wouldn't (Kwesi). They couldn't is absurd, Kwesi spent like a drunken sailor, 2nd most guaranteed cash next to the Patriots.

Oh and they, Should've. Darnold's cap hit this year is 14 mil by the way, peanuts.

Now what are they going to do? Never let a 28 year old and 35 TDs walk out of your building when you have him

Kwesi is GMing for his job now, no way the Wilfs put up with 5 years, 2 playoff appearances & no playoff wins. So expect something drastic like Rodgers. A hoping for the best case scenario with a middling QB is to risky and ends his career as a GM. Which I'm not sure how he got this job in the first place?

If they sign Rodgers i will not cheer for the Vikings. I know, they don't care but he isn't going to win a super bowl anymore either. He folds when he runs into a strong defense. His heart just isn't in the game anymore.

I’m gonna go out on a limb here and think Darnold would still be a Viking and JJ would’ve got drafted by someone else 5 rounds later if people knew then what we all know now.

The owner and (now) prez are off their rocker. Now, if their plan somehow proves me wrong, I will gladly admit it.

I will say that the fact that the Bills can't figure out that Beane constantly flubbing in the draft is also a huge problem (and at the very least he should've been gone too) has gotta be concerning for that fanbase. If he flubs another draft it's not really gonna matter who the coach is.

It's a little late, because things became hurried, but I'd have offered Tomlin (by some accts he is DONE with coaching) or Flores a blank check.

They beat Jax on the road and lose at Denver, I thought they played a week longer than expected, I don’t really get the chopping block. Allen was banged up, Kincaid had the knee thing for like half the season.

4-1 TO ratio in favor of DEN (in regulation), and it still took OT. Just sayin'. Questionable first PI call, too, in OT.

McDermott is a coach with a defensive background and their D wasn't exactly good. I also still don't understand why they didn't continue to blitz when it was working, faking a blitz on third and dropping linemen back into coverage cost them a new set of downs that ultimately ended in a TD to take the lead late in the 4th and while one play doesn't cost you a game, blitzing there might've forced 4th and 11 with like 4 mins left and significantly increased their chances of winning. I tend to agree that this Bills team wasn't as good as some of the others but this was also the one year with no Mahomes, Burrow, or Jackson to worry about.

Their D harkened back to bend/don't break just didn't work overall. They missed on Coleman (maturity, IMO, I had high hopes). TEs always nicked up, and that was a focus of their goal as offense. I LOVE Shakir, but he's a possession receiver, not a big play guy that is going to score a lot of TDs. He's gonna get you yards.

Obviously, injuries and age hurt the D big time this year.

Darnold is wildly inconsistent.  His Passer Rtg the past 10 games including playoffs - most recent to least recent

  • 110.9

His career On Target% is 65% while the league average is typically around 75%.

He could prove the fact I don't trust him wrong over the next 2 games.

Darnold was number 3 in the league in on target passing this year 79.8. He was also 2nd in completed air yards, he gets the ball down field better that just about any QB in the league with accuracy.

What he needs to do, is be smart with the costly and sometimes unwarranted/careless type INTs.

I'm well aware - I also already detailed his shortcomings to explain the skepticism by me and many others. And like I said he has at least 1 more chance to prove himself a big time QB.

Darnold didn’t really pass the old eye test in “the big game(s)”. I do know the o line got their butts kicked but he just took sacks when he had open receivers and just plain didn’t do much to sell himself, funny how some people have forgotten all about that now. So to defend the front office I find it interesting how moving on from the contract it was gonna take to keep “ that” gets criticized as such a bad move. Seattle is not the Vikings, that’s the other thing good lord there’s no proof he would’ve done good things in purple this season or a point to the thought other than pointing out the obvious that was unpredictable. All everyone on here did was bitch about Darnold after his last two games and the JJ pick was the thing to do. This year the rams have made Sam look like shit twice unlike the niners they actually get to qb’s. Did it to him in purple too. We’ll see how it goes and yeah maybe he gets it done, he deserves it, I have no problem with him having success! To criticize the Vikings (now) for thinking they had their franchise qb and moving on from Sam is just typical after the fact armchair management.

Agree on Shakir, sort of that Xavier Worthy style yac guy without worthy speed. His usage was really unpredictable, they went games without involving him at all that I didn’t understand (had him on my team). When Kincaid was out I expected him to feast on targets. Coleman yep showed bits and pieces of his talent but what’s going on with his head I have no idea and for drafting him with their 1st pick a few years ago I wanna say, hasn’t worked out. I guess I get it, knock on the door enough times gotta figure out something different to kick it in but still thought McDermott was ok then again that’s today’s NFL. Go pats😉

Maye’s blindside was an issue last week and looks like more of the same coming today.

He’s got 20 seconds to change the play at the line if he doesn’t like it.

I would be rushing the punter over worrying about punt return right now.

Romo mentioned Denver might have the advantage wearing orange for the qb’s seeing their receivers. How much did snow effect Denver and seeing allowing the Patriots defensive backfield in white jerseys on that int.

New England head Coach Vrabel could become the 1st person to win a Super Bowl as a player and then as a head coach with the same team

Aloha!

Golly I feel bad for Sean Payton.
