New England head Coach Vrabel could become the 1st person to win a Super Bowl as a player and then as a head coach with the same team

He’s like the neighbor you wish you had to have a beer and a brat with around a fire pit😂

Pretty sure the CBS broadcast team said this Patriots team is the first in NFL history to go 9-0 on the road so he's got that record as well.

Brady is really poor with the color. Maybe he’ll get better, but I doubt it. I do like romo a lot and he really improved. He used to be doing way too much of predicting plays and such that you know the former QBs see, but comes across poorly as the point isn’t to try show how much you know

Gotta give it to Darnold at this point, he’s getting it done.

I might be in the minority… though a year ago now, I didn’t hear one Vikings fan say keep Darnold on social media. Everyone on social media said to move onto JJ McCarthy and let Darnold walk. Now a year later McCarthy had a subpar season, Darnold is in and NFC Championship games and now social media is saying Vikings are dumb for letting Darnold walk.

Probably not great lol. That said if Vrabel was carrying this org to a bunch of 8-9 or 9-8 seasons they wouldn't bottom out hard enough to get really good draft picks so even if it was a dumb move it might help the team in the long term. That is if they start making the right hires to compliment any high end talent they acquire.

It's totally possible they just continue in their ineptitude of course, I don't know much about their GM or org as a whole.

yeah Vrabel kinda fell into a nice fit in NE. They just have it figured out

As a fan of a rival team that gives QBs a lot of time to develop who end up being very successful, I'm not sure that was the greatest plan. Darnold's contract isn't near one of the highest in the league and rushing a new QB after being injured the previous year wasn't exactly without risk. QB's are expensive and I get the appeal of allocating $0 to that position but it definitely backfired and the Vikings are kinda in the same spot where they either run it back with JJ or allocate money toward that position, there aren't many options that would be good for cheap.

That said for all I care y'all can give Kwesi a lifetime contract 😉

I don't understand how trash talk is an automatic first down but regardless it was costly.

It wasn't "let Darnold go" it was more "at the price he will command, let him go."

Nix, Daniels, Maye, Williams, who else was in that draft class? Just a wild hunch but think the Vikings seen the success there and thought why not us?

@trixr4kids

I was skeptical of the call until seeing the full replay. Ref gave him a lot of leash but as soon as he left the field of play and moved toward the bench area the flag flew.

So that Kupp catch is a catch, but the Cooks "catch" wasn't a catch?

Ridiculous.

Note: BUF's 4 TOs in regulation was the bigger factor, don't get me wrong.

Wonder when not kicking a FG regret started to kick in for the rams?

I did not expect this kind of offensive game, overall. Great game, though.

the fact that they don’t look at it and would double punish mcvay to challenge if he lost is ridiculous. Too important a play but the nfl ruling it’s because he leaves his feet so he has to survive the ground versus an immediate hit/tackle (100% wouldve been ruled incomplete if the rams picked that up rather than they rule him “down”) where guys lose the ball all the time. Can’t say I get it

you either need to go for 2 early or kick the fg. Leaving yourself down 4 going into the 4th is beyond stupid. I think mcvay is a good coach, but he does this kind of thing constantly

“Win 14 games with Minnesota and they get rid of you” Glad the announcer said that. Kwesi is an F’ing  moron.

Seattle has their guy for the foreseeable future and the Vikes don’t have sh*t.

Both games lived up to the hype, although I still think NE is a paper tiger. No haterism here; easiest schedule, then face a no-name backup QB in the conference title game, etc. They're good, but not GOOD. Next year will be the test.

Romo mentioned Denver might have the advantage wearing orange for the qb’s seeing their receivers. How much did snow effect Denver and seeing allowing the Patriots defensive backfield in white jerseys on that int.

Romo says a lot of dumb 💩. NE in white jerseys and pants but sure Tony.

SEA 3.5 point favorites way too low. SEA will be up by 10 by the time Bad Bunny sings and then wins going away.

Depends on which Darnold shows up. I'd go no more than SEA -6.5

At this point you have the benefit of hindsight and can at least admit that not re-signing Darnold was a costly mistake. They hoped that an offensive minded coach who's good at developing QB's could get the same kind of production out of JJ but between the injuries and really bad games that just wasn't the case. You're now more or less in the same situation you were a year ago, you at the very least need a QB to compete with him and I gotta imagine even a QB like Mariota won't be as cheap as he was last year (assuming WSH doesn't just resign him).

I get why having a rookie contract QB potentially surrounded with a ton of talent was an appealing prospect but it's hard to imagine them doubling down on that strategy. Kwesi and maybe even KOC need to save his jobs potentially.

@the-rube They did just get through 2 of the 3 best defense’s in football 😉 with the other one up next but I get it. What worries me against Seattle Darnold got the monkey off his back I’m thinking he’s gonna play with confidence and their run defense is gonna put Maye in too many obvious passing downs and feast on that like they have all year. I think NE is a good receiver and a little upgrade on that o-line away from the Lombardi this year but upsets happen.😁

If the Vikings had kept Darnold at $$xx hit on the cap, what would they have had left to build a competent OL that they couldn't even build with the cap space they did have?

Lol! You weren’t sure how anything was gonna turnout with either qb any more than anyone else. Even the expert analysts were skeptical on Darnold when the season started. Fact, going back to week one at Chicago, you were all over JJ and the big mistake Vikings until he made it happen to win the game, you crawled under the rock when anything he did was positive that game and stayed there all week until he was demolished in week two against Atlanta, but oh I’m sure Sam would’ve thrown 5 td’s that game behind that o- line right? You act like this is the first time any organization has swung and missed on a decision which I don’t know, was it? Like mentioned, you have the hindsight proof of how things look today with this particular player on a stacked team which seems almost like an obsession of how right you wanna feel more than anything else. Skol!

I was an advocate for Sam since last season while it was still playing out, so whatever on the hindsight crap.

Of course no one knows how it was going to play out, that is the entire point that you seem completely aloof on. Bring back Sam and replay the previous season, not turn over the keys to the castle to the youngest QB in the league who didn't play or practice the year prior and let him actually develop, complete bone head move. You don't let a 27 year old that just had that type of season and has his raw throwing talent, just walk out the door.

If Sam repeats in year two and the Vikes make a move in the playoffs, case closed and you have your guy. Figure out what to do with JJ. If Sam tanks in year two and goes back to his early 20s self that sucks but the price to pay on that scenario is a minor inconvenience compared to what the Vikings face now. Which ironically involves now having to go pay a QB for next year to compete with Boy Wonder or be handed the job outright.

JJ was absolute trash this year, this was a season completely wasted and that is on Kwesi. And as I stated many times this year, that is on Kwesi not JJ. He should have never been rushed out there at his age and amount of basic fundamental work he needed. JJ showed a little something at the end in meaningless games against brutal defenses, a positive but and the end of the day doesn't do much to move the needle with where he stands in the organization. If the Vikes were impressed and confident, they would roll with him. We all know that isn't happening, actions speak louder than words.

KOC all last year (Darnold year) talked about how young QBs get rushed out there, never get a chance to really develop, then bam they are screwed after a bad season or two. Then the Vikes go out and do that exact same thing to JJ, LMFAO, can't make it up. And that is on Kwesi.

Kwesi is also trash. Darnold fail, JJ fail, bringing in Howell as your backup to push/compete if JJ wasn't ready Fail, Wentz in right as the season begins Fail. And his drafting is beyond epic failure. 2 playoffs in 4 seasons and no wins, also a fail. At some point it is no longer simple, "hindsight."

Also, we know at this point how the football side of the operation felt, the coaches. They wanted Darnold, they wanted Rodgers. Kwesi tried to make a savvy business move instead of making the smart and common sense move and got burnt so many ways its difficult to count.

I was spot on to a T.

Also, a fun stat fact.

Darnold's 127.8 was the highest rating in a Championship game since 2018 & 2017. He went out there and put on a clinic.
