Iowa makes the Elite 8 for the first time since my all time favorite Iowa team did it back in 1987. Three of my all time favorite players in Iowa history played on that team; B.J. Armstrong, Roy Marble, and Ed Horton...they were so damn good. It is absolutely remarkable that Ben McCollum has this Iowa team rolling with a roster bolstered by six transfers from Drake that followed him. I watched the first half of this game and thought it would be a close game for Nebraska to win since Iowa kept letting them shoot the three uncontested. Things changed obviously when it sounds like Iowa ended up taking over the game at the end. GO HAWKS!!

Interesting. I have only have fleeting memories of the 80' Final Four team, mainly for players who played for a couple seasons after that like Bobby Hansen, Kenny Arnold, and Kevin Boyle.

For a program that is so fundamentally sound, they really went brain dead in this those 10 seconds… both players and staff.
The Iowa State women's basketball team lost their best and most recognizable player to the portal today...Audi Crooks. She is the 10th...yes, 10th player to hit the portal from the team since their season ended. I'm not sure what is going on with that program but it's in serious trouble.

I saw she entered the portal on social media, followed by reading comments that nearly the full team has jumped ship. Makes you wonder if it’s coaching staff related or is it possibly Crooks related.

The AD put out a video on social media claiming there is nothing to see, just the environment of college athletics. When all but two members of your team jump ship that is a problem. He tried to point to the Iowa Hawkeyes losing players but only three have hit the portal while another four graduated not the problem where 10 players have hit the portal from Iowa State. It's no secret I'm not a fan of Iowa State athletics but seriously what is going on there when the AD abruptly ended the gymnastics program a couple of months ago?
