Hate to rub it in, but we watched the win sitting in our VRBO looking over the Caribbean in Belize! Had a bit of a panic not finding the game on tv. Finally got a Canadian station, that made for interesting viewing! Certainly a different perspective. Commentators had US depth as a winning factor in overtime and missing Crosby as a negative for Canada, that proved true. We think the people next to us ARE Canadian as we heard big howls when the US scored. Hee hee, we’ll try to not rub it in at the pool. Dennis is wearing his Gopher hockey tee shirt.

So after winning the Olympic Gold in men’s hockey the teams return flight is being delayed by a day due to snowstorm in New York, their flight will be returning but will arrive tomorrow in Miami

They might never allow Nathan MacKinnon back into the country. Misses the wide open net in the 3rd and then gets absolutely punked by Werenski to setup the Hughes goal.
Next most enjoyable thing to watching the US win gold - seeing 3 Avs get worked on both US goals. First Boldy splits Toews and Makar, then Werenski gets the best of MacKinnon.
Also, what was McDavid thinking on that 1 vs. 3 OT rush?

Probably the same thing he was thinking on the first rush when he whiffed on the puck. He saw himself wearing gold. His two rushes could have been zone possessions, which is huge in 3x3. Instead, they were turnovers.
It was a perfect storm. Double-shifted McDavid was a little gassed after his rush,. Werenskis pass to Hughes was a partial whiff, which caused Makaar to step up. Hughes wins that puck battle making it 3 on 1 against a forward.
3x3 should have favored Canada, but the US was better in OT. It felt like Canada tried to win it on individual effort in the end.

Major kudos to the USA Women's hockey on their third Olympic gold medal. 8 Olympic games, 8 medals (3 gold, 5 silver and 1 bronze) and always representing with class. Congratulations!

He was dogging it hoping it would come back the other way. Quite the gamble to make in an Olympic Gold game. No doubt if he comes back hard he has a chance to be back in that play.
