The Cornell student section had some fun chants when I hung out there for a game.
I met some Cornell fans through USCHO and even though I was wearing a Gopher jersey they made a special point to invite me into their main fan cheering section and taught me some of their cheers.
They would make a point to learn the rituals of the opposing goalie. Such as if he liked to skate to the boards during stoppages in play they would figure out his timing and start yelling "Skate, Skate Skate, turn around, skate skate, skate". Like he was a voice activated robot.
At the end of the game they would pull out their keys, start rattling them and yell start the bus at the opposing team.
When their adult fans would start leaving the game early to beat the traffic they would yell "Sit town Townies, sit down townies."
Met a lot of Cornell fans at the couple F4s I went to. Every single one of them were good people.

A cheering with Cowgirl seminar. ?
I'm willing to bet the administration doesn't want you to teach them the coming from behind chant (when the team is trailing). Give an A give me a N (I wouldn't finish the rest). What's that mean?
Personally if the Gophers are winning in the third period tonight I would break out a "Sparty Rejects" chant. That was always fun.
never did that one. Just gimme an S…..E….
you can guess the last letter - it means score. 😉
Since apparently Cornell ushers are very much sticklers about who is their student/main cheer section. The Cornell fans who invited me into their section basically guarded me the whole game so nobody would point me out/get me kicked out. They were basically letting people know he is with us and we got his back. This included the guy who was apparently the head ring leader of the section. I had a total blast at the game.
They had no real reason to be kind to me other then to help a fellow college hockey fan have a great time at their arena. They thought it was cool that I drove multiple hours to see their arena so they said if you make it to the game we got you.
I had some other great experiences out east doing this at games from Pennsylvania, New York, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont, to Maine.
I've since forget the number but it was around about 25 different college arenas total with about 15 of them being out east. The 15 out east were over one hockey season. I typically would go to a different arena both Friday and Saturday night. I put a ton of miles on the car that 3/4 months.

Yep that was always a good one to do. ?

When MN used to play MTU, same deal, I always sat with with students/etc for the 2nd period. I'd get looks from the newer students, but the older ones/alumni I knew in that section made sure to say: he (and whoever) is with us.
I remember one time MeanE got Viking and I to come down b/c one couple were not standing, which is a big no-no in that section. She wanted us to stand in front of them. We obliged. 😀

The first time I ever meant MeanEgirl was at the GLI. Before I introduce myself to her I figured I would have some fun. So I was sitting behind her and when she would stand up in front of me I would yell "Down in front" like she was blocking my view.
For those who don't know she is very short and the best part was she was multiple rows in front of me so even when she was standing she wasn't blocking my view. After this happened a few times and she kept looking behind her trying to figure out who was yelling at her I went and introduced myself as somebody from USCHO at which point she recognized my username and said I am glad to finally met you. We ended up hanging out some at that GLI.
Winter Carnival at MTU was a lot fun. That trip I also drove to Northern Michigan and stayed with some of their fans. Had a really good time at the bar with some of their female fans from the broad but as they say what happens in Marquette stays in Marquette.
The sound system was down in all ends of the arena. Couldn’t hear a word Jamie or the refs were saying
apparently only a problem on half the arena. It was extra loud with an echo on our end. I couldn’t understand half of what Jamie said.
Going to the bench, we see all the time. Kneeling or leaning in front of the bench we see all the time. Actually sitting down on the bench was what was new to me.
Dude, what's so objectionable about suggesting he wanted run and hide when he was the only player to not take part in the postgame?
I've seen it... but I've probably been to more games than you at any level. So, the chances of seeing it is greater. Portillo is not the first and won't be the last to skate straight to the lockeroom and not take part in the postgame. He's not running and hiding... he's a goalie, frustrated how the game turned out. He's not running and hiding, especially from the student section.
Ok fair, since I only watch the Gophers, the NCAA Tournament, and sporadically other games, you know more about hockey than I do, but take a chill pill, man. I know you like to smack me down anytime I say something you think is stupid, but despite how you might be reading my posts, I'm not taking any glee from Portillo bolting back to the locker room last night.

This conversation just reminded me of the time MeG was standing behind the goal Tech was shooting at with a sign that said "Stop teasing me and put it in"
Since I was part of getting this thread off the rails of its intended topic I should help get it back on the rails.
I expect Michigan to come out very motivated tonight but if the Gophers get ahead I think the Wolverines could lose their composure.
If we stop hitting the posts look out.

Huh. I sat in both ends and it was very muffled both times. Regardless they need to fix it.
I'm 50% factual and 50% sarcastic. When you get to know me, you will know which is which.
When their adult fans would start leaving the game early to beat the traffic they would yell "Sit town Townies, sit down townies."
I kind of understand people leaving early from our games given how bad the parking situation has been this season, but I do miss our "Beat the Traffic" cheer.

Then if the crowd leaving early becomes large (during blow out games) you add in "Your the Traffic, your the traffic" ?
AKA we stay for the whole game, party after game and then by the time we leave the traffic isn't bad because you all left early at the same time. #ThankYou ?
I always hung around way after the game, for that reason.

The Catholic lineup is back for another night. #FishIncluded
Kurth on the 3rd line. It will be interesting to see if it stays that way. Certainly worth a shot. Looking forward to seeing how it works if they get to stay together for the whole game/a group of games.

Pulling this chant out at the Kohl Center when the Gophers were blowing out the BADgers and their fans were leaving early may not have been a smart idea but I was having fun and thankfully got out alive. ?
A Gopher friend helped me realize that I should stop. #LookingOutForEachOther

Same here.
Tying in with my swag posts earlier in this thread, it's a great time to look for things others left behind. Mostly t-shirts, but I have found a variety of other discarded giveaways.

I’m in favor of putting Kurth in a position where he can contribute offensively. He scored at will in juniors and is a little more mature than Lamb right now.
It's not the end of the world but calling Hughes a "traitor" is not a remark I can endorse.
GO GOPHERS GET THE SWEEP!!
BTW any chance to get the M smileys back?
Very happy to see Kurth on that line
Completely endorse keeping Schmidt in the lineup. We’re at the point in the season where Pino and Strobel have been developed enough for next season and the coaches need to focus on winning hockey games right now. Agree with the sentiment that he’s a playoff type player. If he sticks in the lineup pencil him in for a huge goal in Tampa lol wouldn’t that be awesome.
This is the programs best shot at a title in a long long time, I like that they’re putting all their chips on the table and playing someone that’ll graduate in 3 months.
Kill maim pillage burn, eat babies......(opponent) babies....
I don't think that's allowed anymore. 😉

Sure it is. Nobody knows it, hence you don’t hear it.
Ahhhh, ok. That makes me sad.

Eager to see how the team plays tonight. After the emotional win yesterday, you know michigan will have a chip on their shoulder & want to set the tone from the hop.
Play smart. Play hard. Play Gopher Hockey!
Any streams for this game? Haven't found it yet.
Poop. MI 1-0

Probably lucky to only be down 1.
Agreed. Sounds like we got massively outplayed. MI is attacking, not defending.

Michigan was coming in waves and the Gophers top line was less noticeable. I noticed Brodzinski’s line more than any other. Let’s hope the Gophers can flip the script.
Huglen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I think Nevers tipped the Faber shot

This ref and the quick whistle needs to go away.

Don’t say dumb things and you won’t have worry about it. Feel blessed that I don’t call you out more often.
