I think it would've been perfectly reasonable for him to be considering other options while the HC spot was in flux.
That being said, if anything it's another green checkmark for Larson that Mooney didn't up and leave on him if the reports are true.

Any player with pro aspirations would just be wasting their time and potential at PSU playing for Gadowsky and his (non-)system. Last I checked they don’t even have a full starting 5 of alumni who have played NHL games.

Agreed, and sadly this is not the same game anymore. The things we all probably love about college hockey have changed significantly the last couple of years, and as you alluded to it's hard to see the game the same that I once did.

There's still plenty of pride to be had in the program, but you have to consider money as a factor, especially when you don't know how long your career at that next level is truly going to be.

What is the best NIL collective or organization to donate to that will support the Gopher hockey program? I do NOT trust Dinkytown Athletes. Is there a hockey specific NIL group? Please let me know. I want to help. Can we start a GPL NIL collective?

Golden Helmet Collective. There's one of the GPL pods on it. They elected to not go active while there was everything up in the air with NIL last year, but unsure where it's settled out to this year.
If they're not active/soon to be, you're stuck with DTA or with donating directly to the U right now
@jupiter or @eric-vegoe may also know where things are at with the various groups a little more too

Also I don't think players at Minnesota are maximizing their potential NIL/revenue share dollars, but it's enough to soothe the itch looking for money.

I believe this is accurate. There hadn't been anything publicly shared on him signing his NLI yet. Maybe we see something from Logfren as that hasn't been publicly shared either.
Cullens, Kvas, Nevers, Katz, Phillips and Casey have all signed in the past, but I do wonder if they will do posts stating their incoming this year (if they are).

I used to donate to the hockey program years ago and I vaguely remember that I needed to put Hockey Service Fund (or something like that) in the memo of the check to make sure the money went to the hockey program. I don't have a clue if that is how it is these days but that's how the staff instructed me to do it years ago.

Quite honestly, this is part of the reason why my desire for ALL of college sports has been rather low. Of course, I will always cheer for the Gophers across the board (for multiple reasons)... but the "romance" of college sports has largely disappeared for me. What made all of it seem special is mostly a distant memory now.
NIL, Transfer Portal, etc... far less loyalty/love of school, more about money, players leaving for (many times) really soft/weak reasons, etc. Even if it benefits the Gophers more than many other places, it still grosses me out.

I’m getting a bit antsy, I would really like to see us scoop up another CHL guy who can contribute, and apparently there’s still projected early-round draft picks available. Based on the rumor mill, I doubt Tarin Smith is coming.
Begley and Harris cannot be dressing on a regular basis anymore. I guess Harris might just be hanging up the skates in order to graduate from the U, but if Begley is playing for us at all next year my blood pressure won’t be able to take it.

still envision what he does is highly contingent on what his recovery timeline ends up being. If it’s going to be 9 months or something, there’s just not a real reasonable chance he contributes and the U isn’t going to burn a schollie on a one and done type guy to not play. If it’s 4-5 months, I think you’d be silly not to take a chance on that, knowing he’ll have support guys there to slowly ramp up back to full speed

yeah sounds like its always been his dream to play here. Better to come in hitting the ground running. Would be real good with if we want to develop a pipeline with Penticton and increase our footprint in BC

I feel bad saying this because of what he did for us as a player, but I’m really glad we didn’t hire him.
No worries G. Potulny was an amazing Gopher Player! However, great athletes don't typically become great coaches (i.e. L. Whalen). I think at some point most of us Gopher hockey fans truly believed G. Potulny would ascend to become our next great H.C. I, too, am gland we did not hire him.
