We are lamenting a tie on the road...meanwhile most of our rivals sharted in their pants last night.  We will be fine no matter what happens today.  There was always going to be a point in the season when the team dipped, having it be now is not that shocking and I have zero doubt they will find their way back.

We are the best team (or at worst second best) in the West.

Okay Gophers, you need to finish this.  Last night we sat on our balcony in Roatan Honduras, listening to the waves and the radio stream.  Rum cocktail in hand we delayed dinner for that game and unfortunately had a somber 5 minute walk into town afterwards.  Do better tonight!
Although the earlier game time means tonight we grab take out BBQ from transplanted Texans.  They run the bakery Sandy Buns and are famous for their cinnamon rolls.  ONCE a week he smokes BBQ, brisket and pork, available  until it runs out, usually before 6:30!
GO GOPHERS and yippee for BBQ.

When people tell me I’ll regret not having kids, I say that’s okay I know a really good place to cry. It’s my vacation home.

Just a random observation... Mittelstadt's jersey has Pride on Ice on the back of the neck, while the others don't.

Maybe it was digitally added to the photo?

I asked because it was going to drive me insane.

Let’s score first, eh? Make the offensively challenged team chase the game.

J Mittelstadt out, Strobel in.  Lamb and Kurth back on their regular lines after switching spots late last night. I thought Pino might sit.

Hoping Pino gets it going tonight. Do we know if J. Mittlestadt is injured or Bob’s just shuffling the fourth line like most weekends?

Have not seen any reason. Mittelstadt had been in the PK rotation, so I'm a bit surprised he sits. The 4th line does need to start adding a few goals as Pino and Strobel are still looking for #1.

I would be happy if Pino just does anything to let me know he plays in the game.  I have barely noticed he was on the team this year which is not a good thing for forwards.  It can be an attribute for defenseman but not really for forwards.

Agreed. As far as I can tell, J Mittlestadt has earned that spot and Pino hasn't done much in my opinion to suggest he should play every weekend. Kind of disappointed that they keep rotating when it seems like JM should play every game.

This kind of home cooking by the refs prob is the biggest reason not to expect a road sweep.

If I'm Motzko, I'm going to have a chat with 81 and tell him that every blind behind the back pass he doesn't connect on will cost him 25 pushups.   I swear he has committed 5-6 turnovers this weekend so far with that move in the offensive zone.

Cooley on the Power Play!!!!!! It is amazing what can happen when the refs don't allow the Irish to get away with penalties.

Irish guy is holding Brodzinski so he slashes the guy. The ref calls the retaliation penalty and not the original penalty. No wonder teams hold when refs reward them.

Knies scores an absolutely beautiful short handed goal. #Justice

Cooley gets slashed and cross checked. No penalty. The game is going to get out of hand with dirty play if the refs keep letting this crap go.

Yeah, if we could stop giving Notre Dame shorthanded chances that’d be great.

Knies on the shorty scored on a 1 on 3. He beat both defensemen, the stick check of the forward, and then the goalie. Too bad the other two forwards weren't back so he could beat them too. ?

We witnessed Faber's only bad play of the year during that period. Koster struggled a bit that period as well.  Knies seems to be back at beast mode. Keep pressing and keep scoring.

Nice answer back from last night. Knies was unstoppable tonight and the Gopher defense was noticeable on offense.

As good as Minnesota was in the second period, they needed Close to be on top of his game. There was some sloppy coverage lapses, forcing Close to shut down multiple point blank opportunities.

Janickes both had a terrific weekend.

Really solid win today. A shutout win and a tie (okay, shootout loss) in conference, on the road? Take that every weekend.

On Bob's radio postgame he indicated that Luke was dinged up. I'm not sure when I saw Luke on the ice after his hit. Also reading between the lines,  maybe John was sick/dinged up and that is why he didn't play. Mentioned missing him on the PK.

EDIT-- Luke Mittelstadt update

Get the lead and turn it over to The Closer!!!! Close with the shut out. His 7th career Gopher shut out in basically one year. Jack L left about this time last year.

Over the past 4 games he has given up a total of 4 goals stopping 98 of 102 shots for a saves percentage of 96%.
