I still like record shows, and especially Gopher games. I have about 75 Gopher Hockey games currently in my DVR. It is just easier for me to fast forward and look for particular game or plays that way. I also copy all the goals and unique plays from the games to DVD's (and VHS years before that) So if I want to go back and look at a goal from a game in 2012 I can. Unfortunately, now that the games are not on Ballys, I don't get to record as much as I used to. (Time for me to get back to my Bingo game at the nursing home) 🤣

For the phone option you could look at a google voice number. That's free and should be easy to set up how you want it.
If you get good 5g service, I've heard good things about either t mobile or verizion's internet services, but it really does depend how good of a 5g signal you get at home.
But the TV question is always going to be a quandary. There really isn't a good answer unfortunately.

I can’t find that channel but I do get a CW twin cities (23). Would that be the same channel? Or what channel up there in the cities covers the tournament if there’s a different one. Thank you! Not the same channel. I'm assuming this is through an antenna? This would be on channel 5.2. see the link if you're not in range of the twin cities
Ok our local cable provider picked up my 45 cw. I’m trying to find it on a tv box and what channel people in the cities watch it on assuming it’s the same. I can’t find my45 so wondering if there’s a different channel. Sorry I’m new at all this.

@camo-coat-guy I live out of the metro tv market and I use a Roku to watch the State Tourneys including the hockey tourney. I think the Roku's start at around $30.

I just remember always seeing my45 in the corner of the screen. Maybe not a CW. The cable company just picks it up for the highschool league tournament otherwise it’s a blank local access program channel. So I only get to see this channel during the tournament normally.

Jess Myers taking a job to be the Outdoors Reporter for the Duluth News Tribune... Looks like Gopher Hockey coverage will take a hit with this one. His coverage of hockey may go down quite a bit, if not completely. Though I know for a fact that he will still be covering the Frozen Four.

I will admit that I have been somewhat critical of Jess's coverage, just because I was always hoping for more. I assume it was a company decision, but Jess only seemed to do road trips that were drivable the past year. I look at Schlossman, and I crave for the coverage he does.( I know there is a reason for that) That said, I did enjoy the coverage that Jess did provide. Now, we as fans, are really going to be limited in the coverage we get. Thank goodness for @eric-vegoe and @jupiter for the platform to fill in the needs of the loyal fans. I know Jess loves the outdoors, so I'm sure he will provide those readers with quality content. I hate to say it, but it also may show that the demand for Gopher Hockey content isn't in the same league as other programs. We the fans must show support to whomever takes over to prove to the powers that be that there is a spot for good Gopher Hockey print media reporters.

For clarity, Jess moved to another Forum Communications entity, although I'm sure he was told that his position at The Rink Live would be ending or cut.
My 2 cents on this whole situation. I liked the content of TRL provided, especially a couple of years ago when they had a podcast with the hockey writers Jess, Schloss, Wellens and Hatten that recapped the prior weekends games. But as a business model, I'm sure that it was (is) a financial loser. It was a free site and I'm not sure how they could make it work and that most likely explains why Jess never went on road trips that required air travel last year. Granted, some of their writers worked for their hometown newspapers, but they had a few that did not (those based in the Twin Cities). I am more than willing to pay a certain amount of money per month during the college hockey season for quality content, but not sure how many others would. I may look into subscribing to the GF Herald for Brad's hockey content this season, as he does a great job covering college hockey in general.

on my iPhone I can find only fox9 news for an app. That can’t be it I’m thinking. I’m looking for fox9 plus as well and don’t see an app for that. Any help I’d really appreciate.

I get Fox9+ with minimal Comcast/Xfiniti package (I get the most basic they offer). If no cable, I think you just need an antenna, and you're good.

It is great that networks are getting paid by FanDual and all, but as a non-gambler I am turning the TV off more often these days because of the huge gambling push.

Sometimes he’s so freaking annoying if I was Chad Abbott I’d tell him to knock it off, you’re not Mr. Cool…you’re a 50+ year old radio host with a uni-brow!

This is the same way I feel about his play by play call. His fake over-enthusiasm is ridiculous and the idea that he’s one of the best PBP guys is ludicrous
