The only good news from that potential arrangement would be that I only watch the single a tournament on tv and Parrish wouldn't be doing them anymore. (:

I love Pat for his passion for all things Mn hockey. He is a great ambassador. That said, I would prefer someone else as I think he is built more for a studio analyst. Pohl or Hankinson would be on my list.

I didn't mind Sweet Lou from that angle. In fact I thought he went too far sometimes trying to sound impartial commenting on Edina and was too hard on them or not complimentary enough. And I say that as a Tonka fan. 🤣
I don't mind Clymer as much as others do, but there are several others I'd pick before him so to that degree I also hope he is not the pick.

I just got an email from B1G+ saying that the option for single sports pass will not be available next year. Luckily for me, and thanks to @jupiter for the code at the beginning of this year, I had applied it to next year and they will honor that and I get the whole sports pack for next year for $30. It looks like they will now only sell the school pass and the conference pass going forward. School pass is $79.95 ( access to live streaming events for all that schools sports) and conference pass is $119.95 ( access to all B1G+ streamed events for all schools)
For example the NCHC school pass ( hockey only ) is $107.95 per year and the conference ( hockey only) pass is $116.95

This sucks, but it is not targeting hockey. It is targeting ALL individual sports packages. Not sure what I will do in 2025 when the real renewal will come up for me. Likely will only go with Minnesota vs the entire league. Though I enjoy watching the other hockey games, not sure I care THAT much.

I think it would be an easier sell if they upped the production at other schools and if they eliminate the fact that the BTN games are on the Fox sports app and not B1G+. Maybe the app thing will correct itself if/when the new streaming sports option happens in a couple of years. I will probably break down and buy the $119 package after next years promo price ends because I do enjoy watching other B1G hockey games. Just need to budget 1 less drink a week when going out for dinner and that should pay for it. 😆

By 2025 the landscape will be different. ESPN is set to launch some sort of bundle this fall with Fox and Warner Bros. Then they are going to launch a direct to consumer stream in 2025. I can't find details on either of those other than 'sports'.

I do not like Parrish in the booth. Seems like he's a good enough guy as a person, but, that's not really a qualification to be an announcer.
Neither Parrish brings much to the booth. They both have the every play is SUPER HUGE Gus Johnson approach that doesn't resonate with me.

If we're giving notes on Parrish, then for me it's he is much better in studio and doing breakdowns. It's obvious that he prepares for those and just isn't as effective when trying to be the color guy.
Kind of like Clymer to me. Obviously knows the game, just, doesn't seem to be able to communicate that clearly/accurately in the heat of the moment commenting on a play that just happened, rather than giving them time to think about it and prepare better. Studio guy making notes to comment between periods would be a really good fit.
There aren't a lot of people that do this job that I despise. I'm perhaps not critical enough in that regard, but as long as they don't ruin the moment for me I generally can live with them. Tim McCarver during the '87 WS stands out as bad. LaPanta's "scooooooooooooores!" is annoying. I never enjoyed Dennis Miller on MNF nor Dan Dierdorf in any capacity. Parrish is goofy but I do appreciate his passion for the game and imho he comes across as sincere in that regard.

Buccigross, Starman, and Melrose are all awful.
Starman annoyed me at first but he's grown on me.

I think this happens more times than realize to people in social media. So see it all the time in reality tv, lives and changed and families ruined. I think it goes the same for radio personalities. It gets to be to much for people with the fame and fortunes (depending on the career).
I know this is off topic but I’m not sure where else to ask this, but to stream ESPNU is there a better streaming option than another? I just have cable now and get have Amazon prime but other than that I don’t stream and would like to get the regional games for once so I don’t have to find a sports bar. I’m thinking Hulu is ok?
