Bold prediction by the Chattin' Chuckleheads podcast..."Gophers will miss the tournament".
I am the official Iowa Hawkeye football fan of GPL!
I don't think it's that bold, I think defensively it's going to be a rough year
Gophers move down this week
Michigan moving up so much just by spiking the football and going for 2 on every TD against last year’s 64th place team is ridiculous
I don't think it's that bold, I think defensively it's going to be a rough year
Yeah I had MN as a bubble team to start the year. Missing the tournament wouldn’t shock me in the slightest, nor would eeking in.
Clarkson beat Penn St
New Hampshire beat Sparty
Ferris St beat Western
All the winning teams were road teams

you and every person who pays any ounce of attention to college hockey.
Not a bold prediction by them in the slightest
St Thomas joining the Nacho conference? This is the 1st I have heard of this

Aloha!
I can’t see the whole article without a subscription, but just from the snippet in the photo, had to laugh that our upcoming opponent, NDSU, was referred to as the River Hawks. The gift that just keeps on giving. 😂😂😂
Ps though if iirc it had been discussed about them joining the nacho but not sure if/when made official.

old news brotha- it was announced shortly after ASU. I think it was in March 2023, our attention was obviously elsewhere at that time. tDon went out and grabbed Augustana to replace UST as a CCHA member in the near future.
Pretty funny that Mankato is perma-friendzoned by the NCHC. Maybe once St. Cloud folds the purple cows can finally get an invite.
Notre Dame losing 2 to 1 at home to St Lawrence midway thru the 2nd
Michigan losing 1-0 at home to Robert Morris midway thru the 2nd
Bad results for the gophers, hopefully these flip.

evil M and Irish won.
I cannot bring myself to cheer for becky. They are going to OT.
official tie, becky wins the so over the purple cows.
MSU up 3-1 after 1 at BU. Would be some nice NPI points in the bank for the league if that holds.
Lindenwood beats Denver 4-3. Each team had 33 shots on goals.
Michigan State beats Boston U 4-3 in OT to finish off a road sweep.

as they well should be. Michigan the only other one who I could see an argument for as they've been destroying teams, but they haven't played anyone. Gophers at 12 feels about right with the schedule and results.
Schlossman says on his podcast that Qpac looks like a title team already. I get that they’ve dominated play as shown by their shot counts vs. BC, Maine etc., but…
Maybe this is my western bias showing, but I don’t really feel that a handful of impressive one-offs vs. teams polling in the 2-seed to 3-seed range, who look like they’ve taken a big step back from last year, (+Holy Cross) are all that great of a resume. I trust Schlossman’s puck knowledge, but 🤷♂️

if we were judging by early season results, bc would’ve won every first month championship. You can basically eliminate yourself with your October, but I’d put minimal stock come April on how you did vs a bc team that’ll be wildly different and is full of freshman (the same as I’d put results against MN)
For those of you that have been in Madison before The guy that does the 1-2 we want more chant has passed away at the age of 81. He started attending games back in 1968. Talked to him a few times out in Madison, he was a super loyal fan. They lost a good one

The guy was a legend and part of the fabric that makes college hockey special.
We should toast in his memory...
...and as a true rival, hope the Badgers will never score another goal ever again without him.

Michigan just shut out Western Michigan 4-0
The Big Ten is now 24-8-3 (.729) in non conference games
The NCHC is now 28-13-1 (.679) in non conference games
Hockey East is 17-14-3 (.544) in non conference games
The Big Ten is 4-2 (.667) against the NCHC and 6-3-1 (.650) against Hockey East
Almost half of the Big Ten non conference are already completed.
I gotta be honest I wasn’t ready to hop on the Michigan bandwagon as much as some folks because of their schedule but I gotta give them their flowers here they look good. Still think they get humbled at some point. Eyeing that Wisconsin series in two weeks. I think the Badgers take two in Yost that series.

Michigan might be for real- I’ll wait for tomorrow’s results though.
Anyone watch the game? Curious to know if it was like, a tight 2-0 game +ENGs, or did Michigan really dominate play.

Michigan really carried play. A lot of that was due to PPs but there’s something to be said for drawing penalties.
What are they even trying to argue there? Hard to follow.

PSU clawed back from a 2-0 deficit against Stonehill going into the 3rd, winning 3-2 on a goal scored with 23 seconds left in regulation. They have to keep getting lucky every single time, the doubters only have to get lucky a few more times.

Already having CHL players bail from the NCAA...
On this week’s CHN podcast, Adam Wodon brought in Scott Sandelin for CHN’s team of the week/UMD feature. Except, Adam spent ~10min or so (17% of the ep’s runtime; starts around 52:00 mark) just whining at Sandelin over the phone about how unfair it was for Penn State to be in Allentown as a #4 seed last year and knock out Maine in basically a home game. Sandelin “mhm’d” his way thru most of it.
But then Adam Wodon started arguing (mostly with himself) for one of the most idiotic ideas anyone has ever had.
His proposed “fix” for last year’s tourney/Penn State situation was:
(1) Penn State should’ve played in a different regional, and
(2) all of PSU’s support and media staff, logos and branding etc would “get” to stay in Allentown, working to host that regional separately from their own team;
And he said it like that’d be some kind of great honor/privilege, one he’d grant PSU as a concession! What planet is this guy living on…
I nearly spit out my drink when I realized what he was saying and that he wasn’t joking. Adam WOATon continues to amaze me, with his zero self awareness and even less shame.
I guess with Mike Schafer gone now 🙏 CHN’s spending all their newfound free time on terrorizing western college hockey even more. With all their ridiculous opinions and NCAA proposals and nonsense poll votes for Cornell (0-0-0).
here’s some transcript highlights (all of this is Adam talking) w/ timestamps btw:
On this week’s CHN podcast, Adam Wodon brought in Scott Sandelin for CHN’s team of the week/UMD feature. Except, like ~15min of that segment was just Adam whining at Sandelin over the phone about how unfair it was for Penn State to be in Allentown as a #4 seed last year and knock out Maine in basically a home game. Sandelin “mhm’d” his way thru most of it.
Hmmmm... If he actually supported home (in campus) regionals, that game would have been played at Maine. Problem solved. I guess I need to listen to this.

In all his commentary on the topic he just robotically repeats that one talking point about how the pairwise (now NPI) isn’t precise enough to justify teams gaining a home ice/campus advantage. But if that’s the case- why the hell does he think PWR is precise enough to justify his belief that Maine should’ve gotten a more favorable seeding/placement?
Either: (a) NPI/pairwise is too imprecise to decide home ice so Maine didn’t get screwed. Since apparently, the pairwise is too imprecise to say that Maine was any more or less deserving than PSU.
Or: (b) NPI/pairwise is precise enough to justify a more-or less-favorable regional, so it’s precise enough to determine campus-site hosts.
You can’t have it both ways! It’s all just CHN’s smarmy Eastern bias dressed up as nonsensical, abstract concerns for bracket/on-ice integrity.
It's all to get everyone to talk and click on links. 😉
When you tell somebody somethin', it depends on what part of the United States you're standin' in... as to just how dumb you are.
He's maintained that if you're a lower seed you shouldn't be at your hosted regional at least since Jup and Vegoe had him on the podcast the other year. If we care about attendance at these games, it's just a silly take to have.

Bold 1: he doesn't. every bit of his takes over the years have shown he likes neutral sites.
Bold 2: this is due to his feeling the PWR/NPI is too inaccurate to justify the differences in seeds (i.e. yes we can tell #1 and #16 are a 1 and a 4, but the difference between seeds next to each other is too close to say for certain they're better). I think this makes sense if you were going to put the first round all at home sites (i.e. 1v16 all the way to 8v9) but the top 4 seeds typically have pretty robust data and if you're complaining 4v5 to host, well you should've won more games and you wouldn't be having this conversation. Eliminates the 4 seeds hosting and really they should have no complaints about having to travel as they just scraped into the tournament. Rewards your 1 seeds for having gotten there and tbh, they should get home ice. Bummer for fans who want to travel to their regional if its a small barn and a home seed, but that's, to me, exactly how you grow the game is with rabid home fan bases shown on national broadcasts.
Overall Wodon dies on this hill every year despite that pretty much anyone who coaches or plays wants the games to be raucous, intense, etc. Ask any player if they'd rather play in a dead rink in the middle of nowhere or at Mariucci, the Ralph, or in Houghton in front of a raucous crowd in a winner take all game and you know exactly the answer you'd get. Think you could very easily address this concern for NPI not being precise enough by using the NPI to select who makes it and then adding committee for seeding review if you really wanted to get down to it like CFB does.
Hot start to the osu psu game. Osu 2 goals on two shots, psu just had a goal reversed for goalie interference.
Osu should probably be up 4 or so at the end of the first
BTN announcers are typically better than "breaks his stick, that makes it more difficult to control the puck" Tsk Tsk
I don't see this challenge working for OSU. I'm certain the puck did cross the line, but, you can't see it, so I can't see how you overturn the no-goal call.
Plus, the argument that the OSU player pushed the goalie's skate in, anyway.
EDIT: First review, called a goal, because the puck crossed the line. New challenge from PSU, Goaltender interference.
3rd shorty breakaway/half breakaway and it’s in the net and we have back to back challenges which is the most confusing thing I’ve ever seen. How the fuck is the initial review not inclusive of the whole play?
Why can’t they just review all the things at once…they overturned the overturn for goalie interference.
And now, back to the original call, waved off for Goalie Interference.
What a mess. How they called the first one good when you couldn't see the puck on the replay, I don't get. Yeah, you "know" where the puck was under the skate, but you can't see it, so, shouldn't have been called a good goal.
