Anybody but North Dakota and Duluth. Preferably a Big 10 team so we can put that to rest.
Anybody but North Dakota. Sticking to it.
@cowgirl I appreciate the kind words. They’d had 3 crappy seasons, now a good one & they should be good next season too. I think next season for the Gophers will be much improved. I have nothing against tBob, just turning 65 after 8 seasons, it was time for a change after a tuff season. I think Larson will transition well leading the Gophers & the players will quickly become in sync with his coaching style. He’s driving the Cadillac now & just needs to piece the team together. Have FUN in Vegas at the Frozen Four.

think detroit should leave plante alone (they're pretty respectful of the college dev they get compared with coming to grand rapids). lose a couple heart guys like Truman and Gaffney, but Duluth should be really good next year if they get all 6 top sophomores plus Gajan back
the whole NCHC has some guys that will have some interesting decisions to make
In reference to #9, given our location to NoDak, I'd be driving towards the blast, not away. 😉 As for #6 I'll go with the greater sacrifice. My rankings for what I want to experience in two weeks

Pohlkamp reminds me of the year Leopold won it. So I would not be shocked if he wins it.

Cruz Lucius sounds like he's declined to sign with the Pens.

Per Sydney Wolf, sounds like SCSU has done their interviews and should have someone announced next week. Interviewed 7 people. Should start hearing on portal from SCSU starting the 5 days after though maybe will take until the portal is officially up
Cruz Lucius sounds like he's declined to sign with the Pens.
He is holding out for his parents to buy the rights for an expansion team.
I tried chatting some Pens writers on Twitter. They do not know the family history so they thought this was a weird decision. This is not shocking in the least.

yeah given they don’t need the money I get wanting to get into your best spot, but it also going to be a red flag to just sit and do nothing

lol this is an absolutely horrible take.
Is it just me, or does that not sound anything like Bucci at all?
does anybody know the backstory on why UND stole their goal song (Chelsea Dagger) from the Chicago Blackhawks? seems strange they don't play a fight song.
Anyway, I hope Wisconsin team mocks their fanbase with that pointing thing they all do. I've seen other teams do it before and its funny.
My uneducated guess is because when they were still the Sioux, the logos of the two teams were similar, so why not use the same song?

From the google.
North Dakota hockey started using "Chelsea Dagger" as their goal song in January 2010. This change followed the team's visit to a Chicago Blackhawks game where they experienced the song's energetic atmosphere.
BTW, Chicago started using the song in 2008.

would've thought if he'd leave it would be to try play pro, but then again maybe he saw what McKenna and Smith got in recruiting dollars and got minimal AHL interest, so wants to try cash in somewhere (or force PSU to pay him more).

As a public service for those of us going to Vegas, here are the pregame gathering spots for the FF teams. Hang around these at your own risk. 😉
Michigan-- Tom's Watch bar
Denver-- Ole Red
Wisconsin-- Parry's Pizza
Whioux -- Tom's Watch bar ( and most likely the whole plaza area )

Michigan and Whioux at the same bar? Yikes. Good thing I wasn't really planning on going to any of these bars anyway. As a public service for those of us going to Vegas, here are the pregame gathering spots for the FF teams. Hang around these at your own risk. 😉

Yeah you can always go to Tom's in Minneapolis, IDK that much about the bar scene in Vegas other than the few I've been to but there's definitely better options.
Being that the Frozen Four is in Vegas, the sport books could be an interesting place. Not all casinos carry college hockey. Maybe some will just for the weekend. And the sport books tellers probably will see more action on college hockey this weekend than they have their full career as a sport books teller.
The one and only time in Vegas was for the 2003 Gopher championship, had to beg the Mandelay bar rail to put ONE TV on the game. By the end of the first period, the whole rail was college hockey fans. They thought we were completely crazy, but hey, they made money. Convince them of that, they'll show the game.

Chin Degraves also has now announced he's going into the portal
I'll defer this to @jupiter , but maybe we want to activate a new transfer portal thread? Would envision it's going to get really busy for the Gophers as well as the NCAA. See a couple of guys from Mercyhurst must have committed looking through the sheets, but might be a nice way to peruse through the rumors as they inevitably start flying as guys hit the portal. Of course can also stack on last year's thread too if preferred from a site standpoint
Interesting..

fascinating. All the momentum from the program’s first-ever FF appearance just completely pissed away

it may be the opposite. They catered heavily to McKenna this year with him logging ridiculous amounts of PP time and really went away from some of their identity. Add in the dollar amounts and it may rub some of the grit players down the lineup very much the wrong way, especially when you get to watch McKenna barf up pucks for odd man’s the other way and watch team score game winners on you while not backchecking with zero repercussions
they have a few highly rated chl guys following them on socials, but that may be the expectation that this is the route they’re going to lean into (the BU attempted model this year).
Guy’s best teams have been built on 2-3 year cycles (e.g. 2023->2025) with second-tier talent on paper, he should stick to that proven formula instead of gorging himself at the recruiting buffet
Interesting..

Obviously this has much longer reach than just this season, but not sure there is a better place to put this.
The big points from that article are this:
Under current NCAA rules, athletes are granted four playing seasons over a five-year calendar, with the option to regain a season of eligibility through a redshirt or waiver request. While the new policy would grant athletes a fifth season of eligibility, the proposal sets a starting date of the five-year clock: age 19 or high school graduation.
Most notably, as currently written, the proposal eliminates the ability for athletes to regain seasons of eligibility through redshirts (even for medical reasons) and waivers, which have complicated the eligibility system and resulted in many of the organization’s legal entanglements.
Not sure how that's going to work with players in junior hockey coming in as 21 year old freshmen and only having three years of eligibility then...

I read this as, player coming in just out of high school would now have 5 years of eligibility, and a player who graduated at 18 but came in as a 21 yr old might only have 2 yrs of eligibility remaining. (Granted, i just skimmed it fast.) Isn't it currently that you can enroll as late as age 21 and will have 4 years of eligibility from that date (with chance to redshirt 1 yr)?

Basically yes.
If this new proposal would pass, your "clock" starts at 19 or when you graduate high school. That next year is year 1 of 5 you would have to be eligible. No redshirts, no medical exceptions. So yeah if you graduate high school at 18, and play 2 years of juniors and enroll in college as a 20 or 21 year old freshman, you would only have three years of collegiate eligibility.
Sparty getting an advantage in recruiting
so team USA is gonna flame out 2 games into the medal round at next year’s WJC
