Merrimack isn’t that far outside of Boston, but the big names, yes.
Aloha!
Dartmouth wins. Another bubble team is safe.
Is there a stream available for the CCHA championship game?
Is there a stream available for the CCHA championship game?
That was last night.
NCHC prob on nchc.tv
HE is on espn.
Not sure where AHA is streamed.
Now that Dartmouth has won the ECAC conference tournament
15 of the 16 spots in the NCAA tournament are
NCHC (4) - North Dakota, Western Michigan, Denver, Duluth
Big Ten (4) - Michigan, Michigan State, Penn State, Wisconsin
ECAC (3) - Dartmouth, Quinnipiac, Cornell
Hockey East (2) - Providence, AQ (U-Conn or Merrimack)
CCHA (1) - Mankato (AQ)
AHA (1) - AQ (Bentley or Sacred Heart)
The other spot will go to Ohio State if they win the Big Ten conference tournament tonight.
Augustana gets in if Ohio State and Merrimack both lose
If Ohio State loses and Merrimack beats U-Conn then both Merrimack (AQ) and U-Conn (at-large) are in.
another autobid in Merrimack. Augustana getting the boot now I imagine.
Which would put Mankato in Sioux Falls I would guess.
I am the official Iowa Hawkeye football fan of GPL!

U-Conn is NPI #14, Augustana is NPI #15
Merrimack and Bentley as AQ knocked out #15 Augustana and #16 St. Thomas

When's the last time there was no boston team or UMN in the field?? Good lord.
At this point let’s get 5 b10 teams just to spite the nacho. 😆
To think if you told me at the beginning of the season that more than half the b10 would make the tourney and the Gophers wouldn’t be one of them. 🥺

Hockey East is now dominated by the new blue bloods of Providence, Merrimack, and maybe U-Conn. 😀
Between Zwak and dx, they are GPL's version of Google. And The Google knows all. 😉
When you tell somebody somethin', it depends on what part of the United States you're standin' in... as to just how dumb you are.

There was a Batman movie/Bane meme, when B1G had 3 teams in the F4....and lost.
"We have 3 teams in the Frozen Four!"
"And you think that gives you power over me?"
It was a classic, can't find the pic. 🙁

The 1981 tournament had no team from Boston.

Michigan pulls away in the 3rd period, 6-3 Wolverines with 6min to go.
Last year Denver below a 3-0 3rd period lead in the NCHC conference championship game losing 4-3 in OT.
Denver has now blown a 3-0 lead in the NCHC conference championship game again. Game tied at 3 in the third period. If Denver loses this game you clearly have to consider firing the coach. How can you keep a coach who blows three goal leads back to back years in championship games. 😉 😆 🤣 😀

Yeah, but minnesota was there
1970 is the answer.
So, the NCHC crew only gets one angle to review on a challenge for a Major penalty? That's pretty sad.
Denver 4, Minnesota - Twin Ports 3
Final, 1:54 into 2OT
I will go with the following
Albany, New York
1 Michigan vs. 23 Bentley
7 Providence vs. 9 Penn State
Sioux Falls, South Dakota
2 North Dakota vs. 19 Merrimack
8 Duluth vs. 10 Quinnipiac
Worcester, Massachusetts
3 Michigan State vs. 14 U-Conn
6 Dartmouth vs. 12 Wisconsin
Loveland, Colorado
4 Western Michigan vs. 13 Mankato
5 Denver vs. 11 Cornell
I swapped #7 Providence and #8 Duluth to keep Providence out east and Duluth in South Dakota.
I swapped #11 Cornell and #12 Wisconsin to avoid a Dartmouth/Cornell first round match up (two ECAC teams).
I'll take my crack at it. There is only one team locked to a Regional, which is DU and I agree with CHA that it actually should lock some of the field reasonably. But there's a bunch of random shuffling they could do this year that would not really bother me a ton. I think they will do some shuffling of the 3s for "attendance" compared to what CHA has. Dartmouth can't play Cornell so given we're already shuffling, I expect them to move around Wisconsin to somewhere west based on attendance instead. To me there's only one west 3, so would be weird to not take advantage of that. Maybe they'll just view it as UND is in SF and DU is in Loveland so we're good out west.
Albany
1 Michigan vs 23 Bentley
8 UMD vs 9 PSU
SF
2 UND vs 19 Merrimack
6 Dartmouth vs 12 Wisconsin
Worcester
3 MSU vs 14 UConn
7 Providence vs 10 QU
Loveland
4 WMU vs 13 Mankato
5 DU vs 11 Cornell
edited as noted below
I don't think two ECAC teams (the above shows #6 Dartmouth against #10 Quinnipiac) are going to match up in a first round game.
I agree having both Cornell and Quinnipiac as the 3 seeds in the two west regionals and having Wisconsin as a 3 seed in the east don't seem logical, but the problem is Dartmouth is a #2 seed so that means they need to get matched up with #9 Penn State or #12 Wisconsin (rather than the other #3 seeds which are ECAC teams like Dartmouth is). Since Dartmouth is the second highest #2 seed I don't think it is right to match them up with the highest #3 seed Penn State.
The following could be done to keep Wisconsin in the west
Albany, New York
1 Michigan vs. 23 Bentley
8 Duluth vs. 9 Penn State
Sioux Falls, South Dakota
2 North Dakota vs. 19 Merrimack
6 Dartmouth vs. 12 Wisconsin
Worcester, Massachusetts
3 Michigan State vs. 14 U-Conn
7 Providence vs. 10 Quinnipiac
Loveland, Colorado
4 Western Michigan vs. 13 Mankato
5 Denver vs. 11 Cornell
For the 3 seeds (Wisconsin in the west and Quinnipiac in the east) this makes more sense than the version I posted last night) but it makes less sense for the 2 seeds (Dartmouth in the west and Duluth in the east).
#6 Dartmouth is the highest ranked east team so sending them out west to keep #12 Wisconsin in the west is not something I would do.
This is why I prefer the version I posted last night.
Just pencil North Dakota in for Vegas. Anyone but them to follow through. Ugh!!!!! I will strongly root for anyone playing them and Wisconsin. Not having us in it has become a root against tournament for me that’s just so secondary.
“Good pace, a lot of north and south, or it could be east and west, I’m not sure but either way…” Wooger

sorry yes 100% correct. Forgot to move Dartmouth and Providence to the bracket as you so detailed afterward. edited my post to reflect this.

Guess they're going the pure integrity bracket
Go Merrimack!
No reason not to. There's one switch to be made to avoid the ECAC 1st round matchup, but, other than that, why would they need to move anyone? Not like there's any concern about attendance at Sioux Falls with the Whioux there.Guess they're going the pure integrity bracket

tbh i don't like the attendance argument either, but they do it seemingly every year for no reason. Could see the argument for travel (for fans). SF will be sold out no doubt. Loveland will be alright with DU there. Albany should be good with PSU and Michigan. Worcester I think is the only one that's going to be a question which is why I would've liked the Providence-QU matchup there instead of in SF.
Looks like a pure bracket, other than flipping WisconSIN (12) and Cornell (11) to avoid the Dartmouth/Cornell 1st round matchup.
The official bracket matches what I posted last night (my preferred bracket) except they didn't swap #7 Providence (to keep them out east) and #8 Duluth (to keep them out west)
I thought they would want to keep #7 Providence the second highest ranked east team out east and avoid sending three east teams to the Sioux Falls regional but in the end I don't really care.
I will go with the following
Albany, New York
1 Michigan vs. 23 Bentley
7 Providence vs. 9 Penn State

@gopher6 in what way? The bracket is pure bracket integrity. was always going to be a home game for them.
They earned the Merrimack matchup (for better or worse as they're hot right now).
None of the top 3 teams in that region will have played in 2 weeks. All lost on the 14th
Idk where to put this, but the refs in the girls championship game have been... Bad
Maybe the U should takes notes of what the Whioux are doing in SF this weekend.
A free-will buffet will be available before the game. Profits will go to UND's Name, Image and Likeness program. Live music will be going after the game at The Den, too.
Buffalo Wild Wings in Sioux Falls also will donate to UND's NIL program if fans tell the wait staff, "Put my tab toward UND."

I’ve mostly avoided the ncaa tourney so far and figured I would see who’s playing today. There are 4 games. Puck drops at 1230, 4, 4, and 730. Who in the F decided to put two games on at the same time? They mostly (mostly is doing a lot of work here) get the schedules right for the bball tournament. How can they not get this right? Even something like 230, 4, 6, and 730 would be much better.
Watching the pre-game, they had a graphic up for the Hobey finalists. Apparently, Max Plante plays for the Gophers now, based on the graphic (couldn't get a snapshot).
Let the tourney begin!
