I get logged out every couple of days on the phone, and a couple times a week on my computer.
Is GPL slow for everyone or just me?
On game nights it is slow, and chat has a major delay. It is what it is.

Huh. I do get logged out, but it happens once every several days. I don't know if that's because I click the "keep me logged in" option on two different machines.
On a related note, someone was telling me that GPL always shows me as online, even in the middle of the night or whenever I'm definitely not browsing the site.
Not every disease is visible. Not every pain comes from an obvious wound. Some people you see day-to-day may be suffering in ways you or I may never understand and fighting just to live a normal life. Please consider contributing to the Facial Pain Association and together we can find a cure.
@gopheritall I had this issue as well for a while. Now the last week I'm logged in all the time. I didn't change a thing so who knows?

I have zero clue how the logged in feature works or why it logs users out all the time or once a week or shows you online all the time… etc…

This is one reason why I want to move to a new host. One that is optimized for WordPress since the entire site is all Word Press now. I just want to wait for that downtime in December when the team is not playing to get that done.
Chat is one thing that kills GPL. So I am looking for other solutions. I may try to find another IRC type chat that takes all of the burden OFF GPL. Or maybe even find a low cost paid solution that also takes the burden off the GPL host.

I dunno what that is, but there is the mix-up. You could also do Zoom, or I'm sure there is something else out there. Whatever, I'll roll with what is available.

So....google chat has an app, or if you're old school like me, send your gmail address to @Jupiter so you can get an invite, and that appears to be the new chat room. Seems to work rather nicely.

I made some tweaks to the Portal Recent Posts block. There was some page title and description issues with that block and I needed spend a few hours to rework it.
I tried to get it to look as close as could to what it used to look like. I just removed the Forum identifier to clean it up a bit since I do not think that really matters.
But let me know if it is acting any different.

Going to upgrade the message board software to 2.1 from 2.0.9 in a bit here. So the place may look funny since after each update I need to manually tweak some code for it to work the way we want it on GPL. The actual update itself takes less than 10sec. It's the manual stuff I do that takes 5-10min or so.
But with a bit more of a major release, it may take a bit longer to tweak the code since things may have moved or changed. So HOPEFULLY the portal page with Recent posts will not get too messed up considering that I spent 3 hours yesterday re-working it.

Update complete... Gonna be a bit slow for a day or so as the Cache for the message board gets caught up. But it will get better as time goes on. There is also a new caching system for the message board as well.

The quote feature looks different in the main text box. It's plain text, which is fine for me.
I do notice that the Quote now includes an arrow on the right that will bring you to the original quote.

Though not specific to the message board, I have made some Font Size tweaks to GPL. This mostly affects mobile. I increased the font size from 14px to 16px which brings us closer to what best practices are. Though I did increase the message board from 15px to 16px, which is a small tweak.

Update complete... Gonna be a bit slow for a day or so as the Cache for the message board gets caught up. But it will get better as time goes on. There is also a new caching system for the message board as well.
Did another update this morning and it is much faster now... A few widgets were causing loading issues slowing things down and dragging on the server. So things will be better now.

This message board software had that major update just as I started using it. So the creator is trying different things as he improves it even more. It just happens that the update from 2.0.9 to 2.1 was a bit bumpy this week. But the feedback from users like me and many others caused him to make some tweaks and release a 2.1.1 version pretty quick.
So the software IS getting better... But there are always bumps in the road as things advance.

Is anyone else having issues with the site loading? I keep getting a message that I'm failing to make a secure connection to the site. It takes about 3-4 tries to get the site to load on either my laptop or phone. I'm at work right now so maybe our connection is the issue. I'll try later when I'm home. Just curious if anyone else is having problems.

I have noticed this issue when on the guest wifi at Mariucci when their network is overwhelmed. (UND Series) I get that security message.

Same as with Jup for me. The only times I ever get that are when I've got a flaky internet connection. If you get that regularly at home, I'd suggest checking your network health in general.
I’m at home and I haven’t had a problem here. It’s weird at work that the only website that has issues is GPL. I literally tried every other website on my bookmark bar and had no issues.
I’ll clean some things up on my laptop tomorrow to see if that makes a difference. Otherwise I’ll have our tech guy check out our server and network.

Well it's definitely our network at work blocking GPL from working. Both my laptop and cell phone can't access GPL on the wifi network at my job. I asked we changed something with the our network security or firewall and I was told nothing has changed. It is just weird that every other website works on the wifi network, I even tried some unsavory websites and none of them were blocked. Kinda weird that I could watch some of that on our network but I can't access a hockey message board.
I'll just have to change my GPL browsing habits to my phone at night and laptop on the weekend at home.
