[Sticky] New wpForo forum software.

I have said it a million times, and will say it again. Thank you Jup for your work in keeping this site up and putting up with us knuckleheads. Is it me, or has the amount of boneheads being banned has greatly decreased lately...

I access this site with my laptop 95% of the time, so I can't speak about the mobile side of things.  I like the layout, and the new added values to the site. For an old guy like me, that is a win.

I added "Reputation Points" to your profile to see where you are at with the combo of posts and likes/dislikes when it comes to what level you are at. Just look for it with the other stat icons in your profile or other profiles.

I also just figured out how to get those points within the post profile as well.

You definitely seem to be able to go in and make changes and stuff a lot easier here.  Glad the new system is working nicely.

I am requesting this type of "Widget" from the wpForo creators on their site. Hopefully they will look to add this feature to future versions of the software. A top ten widget to show the top posters, top likes, dislikes and whatnot.

Chat is back up...

Though no one has really used it yet since it was new back in mid/late April. But it is there to use again. It's in the Community menu.

Did that chat work okay last night? This is new software and I have no idea how it's going to work. It is server based, not IRC... So it is GPL server based and not an outside service. Like we did all those years ago.

It worked. No one really in there (2-3 people), but it was a minor series, and the first series. 

OLD BOARD STATS

I manually added the top 50 user posts stats from the old board as a stat on this new board. You can see it in the user area of threads.

I only had stats for the top 50... I may be able to get stats if you are Golden as well. So if you are Golden and want that number. Let me know, I may be able to get it.

I am confused to what you are asking.

On PC, the "Recent Topics" list is on the right side of the screen (along with profile info, online members, tags, etc)

On mobile, or PC if you make the window narrow enough, these are at the bottom of the page.

Nothing to really change here. This is how the page is designed. Content in the main area and widgets on the side. In mobile they stack. I do not have the ability to add much content BELOW the forum content.

Ok nm - I see the same thing now but it's at the top of the page where you start on PC.  Works just as well so all good. Thanks

Chat has a 20-30 second delay, and the main portal/site is loading really slow.

It's slow.  Was last night during the game too...oh well.

I thought that last night but every other site worked.   I'm at home on high speed it's as slow as the crappy cameramen from FloTV. ?

Ditto here. I usually run 4-5 tabs on game night, and this site was the only slow one (along with chat).

I have stats for folks that are golden, were part of the private eyes group as well as a few others. I looked through those lists and found nothing for you @kelly-red

I just added a snippet of code that will not show if that stat is "0"... or basically if I have not added the stats to your profile.

More like the sad wrinkly carrot at the back of the veggie drawer.  All past posts mean nothing on this new fangled site? My wry observations and well thought out insights of the past are just GPL compost.

I added some caching software to GPL in hopes this place will not go down as often when so busy. We'll see how it goes. There could be some wonky behavior for a bit while I tweak the settings over the next few days. Let me know if you see anything weird.

I'm getting emails for every time someone replies to my posts.  I can't seem to find where to turn that off.  Any way to turn that off?

@idontknow I believe it's in account settings, under notifications...something like that.

Thanks! I don't think I ever would have found it without that video.

FYI... If any of you are still using Internet Explorer. Many images on GPL will start disappearing. I am moving a lot of the graphics and images to the .webp format which IE doesn't support. It looks like 0.08% visits have been from IE. Obviously a super small number, but I just wanted to let those people know.

.WEBP looks to be a nice format. Has the properties of compression like JPEG's, the transparency of PNGs and the animation of GIFs. All in a smaller file size for the most part. So I may be updating a few of the users that have large file sized animated gifs in their profiles. I have tested a few already.

So, I have the "portal" bookmarked, and it worked fine earlier tonight, but now it doesn't work, and takes me to the main page...did @Jupiter tweak something? If so, do I just re-bookmark the portal?

Sorry... I was messing with some setting in the last 15-30min or so. Causing the portal page and other things messed up for a bit. Should be fixed now.

You know what you did.

Is there a way, when under the unread posts tab, that the unread posts can continue show at the bottom of each  thread?  I have to keep going back to the top and clicking on unread posts tab to go to the next one.

I know when new site got up and running i was a little worried about not knowing where i left off as the little yellow page used to be there, but i see you got the little bookmark thing working. sooooooo nice!!!! thanks for all your hard work on the site

Is everyone else getting logged out consistently? I log in and check the remember me box and that works for a little while. Then suddenly I am logged out again. Might be lasting a day. Does it only remember for a certain amount of time? Wondering if I am doing something wrong.

Using chrome on Android.

I use Chrome on a laptop, I get logged out maybe every 7-10 days, but that also happens to me on Untappd. Dunno what it is, but no big deal. *shrug*
