The GPL Chat feature has always been a huge drag on the GPL server that runs the entire site. Especially on busy game nights! So I have decided to move away from hosting chat on the GPL server.
Introducing... GPL Google Chat
This is a Google hosted chat that you must be INVITED to in order to use. But once we get people invited, you are good to go. Even better is that Google Chat has an app for your phone. So once you accept the invite, you can use the app on your phone to chat with GPL'ers during games. Or whenever you want I guess.
So the GPL Chat page is still active on the site. It has a button to bring you directly to the chat once your invite has gone through.
Get an Invite
First, you must have a Google account in order for me to send an invite to you. But then you can just send an email from your Gmail account to gopherpucklive@gmail.com asking to be added to the invited list. It may help to add your GPL User Name to that if I do not know you personally. Then I will get you all taken care of. Then you can just click the button on the GPL Chat page OR access the chat from the Google Chat App.
If you do not want to email me, just send me a PM and I can get you hooked up that way as well.
Google Chat App
You can use the Google Chat App on Android or iOS. If you have already accepted the invite, once in the app click the group link at the bottom right and you should see the GPL Google Chat "space". See attached image.

Just tested the new link/etc, it's nice. If a flip-phone user can figure it out, and likes it, that's saying something. 😉
When you tell somebody somethin', it depends on what part of the United States you're standin' in... as to just how dumb you are.
Quick note...
If I or @greyeagle have invited you to the chat... It may not get to your inbox for some strange reason. I know it didn't for @the-rube ... But since he actually was invited, he could just click the Chat Link on the GPL Chat page and it worked great since he was already invited. So if I have invited you and you didn't get the actual invite email... Try just clicking the Chat button on the GPL Chat page and it will probably work for you.

For those that don't go to the games, or are out of country ( 😉 ) it's a nice way (and easier way) to discuss the game as it's going on.

Makes sense. A chat room for a live hockey game in 2022 seems really unnecessary.

Agreed, I was also in the rink (will be tonight also).
Though, often issues there is the slow network (WiFi or Cell) - especially at football games with 50,000 people.

Not sure what that is about... But you need to be invited in order for it to work. See above. Email me your gmail address.
