My main problem is it seems like they should have received a lot more in return for a #12 overall pick than what they received. Especially when they are dropping back 20 spots. I don’t care about trading back if the return is really good. I don’t like this trade at all but I hope for the best on it.
Yep, I don’t mind the pick at all, but Kwesi got fleeced.
He really didn’t.
When trades are just for picks they have a valuation system for all of them. I usually assume the team that ended up with a 7th rounder thrown in to make the math work is the one who got the short end. That’s why I always assumed Spielman was getting less.
Teams are just tying to get the best value at every pick based on how they have rated players and move around to get that. Always seemed a little silly to me as I think the only people who care about that are their peers.
The Vikings/NFL schedule comes out tonight. We know so far...
Mon, Sept. 19th @ Philly
Sun, Oct. 2nd vs. New Orleans (London)
More importantly, nostradamus Mark Rosen claims the Vikings will open the season at home.

I heard on KFAN this morning Vikes open the regular season at home vs GB

I can only imagine... Open with the Pack at home and play the Pack in Dec. at Lambdump.

New Years Day at Lambeau
Home game on Thanksgiving? And a Christmas Eve game? And New Years Day?
What the hell?

That is unique but Xmas and New Years are on a Sunday this year so…
the last 2 games of the season on the road at frozen cities, I do not see them winning either game
Aloha!

They’ll be fine. The players live in MN and will be plenty used to the temps after walking around in it everyday. Just because they play their home games in a dome doesn’t mean they aren’t used to the cold.
They can practice outside in the same conditions.
Now when Miami or LA teams go to GB or Chicago it is a huge disadvantage.
Vikes have a pre-season game in Vegas I just might have to make a road-trip to see my 2 teams ?
Aloha!

Not a fan of the 7:20 Thanksgiving NFL game and this year the Vikings get to host it... grrrrrrr

I love that they added that late Thanksgiving game. By then everyone has usually gone home and everything is cleaned up and I can watch in peace with lots of leftover snacks.

I heard today on KFAN the Vikings 0-4 superbowl appearances they never scored a point in all 4 games in the 1st half of all games combined
Aloha!
Irv Smith with a broken thumb, questionable for season opener vs the Packers. He’s the “new”Rick (the Glass Man) Finney ☝️
Great…Paul Allen. Was hoping NFL Network wouldn’t block us and we could get the Vegas broadcast.
Apparently they have natural grass in Vegas and it looks to be in awful condition. Take all starters out.
Kickass defense.
D-line has looked good but downfield coverage has been terrible.
Better hope that Cousins doesn’t get hurt or get Covid, because the backup quarterback position is pretty shaky!

It’s really bad visually but not sure if it’s unsafe.
I was listening to the radio broadcast a bit on my drive home from softball and they said the soccer team that plays in that stadium likes to have the grass a wet. So they had the grass really wet for their last game, but for some reason it didn't dry out properly. Then it got moldy (I didn't know grass could get moldy) and killed a bunch of grass in huge chunks.

Yeah. I like to have a green lawn but I have a sprinkler zone that is half heavy shade and half full sun. I either under water the sunny side and it turns yellow or I over water the shaded side and it gets a fungus/mold that’ll turn the grass a bit brown. NOTHING like the Vegas field but it happens.
Vikes just picked up a backup QB from the Raiders fro a 7th round draft choice
Aloha!
What was everyone's favorite Kellen Mond moment?
What was everyone's favorite Kellen Mond moment?
While not completely surprised, I found it a little WTF. The M&Ms: Yeah, you both gone. See ya. We're not even bothering to make a trade for you (that we know of)
When you tell somebody somethin', it depends on what part of the United States you're standin' in... as to just how dumb you are.
The last few years of drafts under Spielman were pretty brutal.
It was very clear after the performances they gave during the preseason that BOTH Mond & Manion needed to hit the bricks…neither was even close to being effective.
BOTH Mond & Manion needed to hit the bricks
They were only keeping two QBs on the active roster. Given they had just traded for Mullen, it was a foregone conclusion that Mond and Mannion were both out. The fact that they waived Mond instead of releasing him outright indicates to me that they intend on signing him to the practice squad.

I'm really intrigued to see how the offense performs with the new staff in charge.
Michael Irvin picked Cousins as his MVP for the 2022-2023 season. He certainly has the weapons to have an extremely good season and hopefully the new offensive coaching staff allows the offense to be more explosive.
Vikings open the season against the Packers on Sunday!

I would prefer the offense is efficient….ball control and no 3&outs. The defense will be more important, they by themselves lost 4-5 games last year. If the offense gets a little better and the defense gets a lot better they’ll win games.

I thought Captain Kirk caused all the losses last year? 😉

I’m not a fan of Cousins as he’s just an average QB making a lot of money. His negative is he won’t carry the team by himself and falters in big games but he also rarely loses games by himself. He’s almost the definition of milque toast average. The idea that he can be magically raised to MVP level by an offensive head coach is ridiculous. That said, this offense can do what the Rams offense did for Stafford…make it easier for him to be efficient.
The defense was abysmal last year. If the offense gets a little more efficient and the defense gets way way better they can have a good season.

I think Michael Irvin might be back on the cocaine
Good Lord you'd think Cousins was the 2nd coming of Ponder. ?

Ponder sucked and never got better. Cousins is average. When everything is factored in I could list 15 current starting QBs and 1 backup I’d rather have than Cousins.
I could put Cousins around 12ish. Better than average, for sure. The top 5, by all accounts are set, the 6-8 spots, generally set. 10-12? There is some variance.

I don't think he ever gave it up!
I am the official Iowa Hawkeye football fan of GPL!
On Smiths sack they had him and Hunter rushing from the 2 tackle positions. Getting that kind of push up the middle in obvious passing situations is gonna be tough on other teams.
JJ on pace for 3774 yards receiving for the season
Kirk looking good, JJ looking great, Dalvin looking great, defense looking really strong.
And the guy GB gave us 2 picks to move up for Williamson'd his first target.
How is Jefferson this open today?

Update: now on pace for 5372 yards
