It's not always that simple. An attacking player can be past the last defender if they are not directly involved in a goal being scored. Meaning on the go ahead Türkiye goal, the player some fans think was offside did not distract any US defenders/draw them away from tracking the pass so he wasn't offside. Sometimes the entire sequence requires additional review in order to determine if there was an infraction or not. Every sport has video review now.

Im a fan of replay. Though not a fan of how officials try to re-invent the wheel when they go to the monitor. Plus, you shouldn’t be punished for challenging and winning. The NBA takes a TO away, even if you win. Plus, whatever league it is and how many challenges you get. You should continue to keep them as long as you’re successful with the challenges.

England looked so stagnant for so long. They were content letting Congo set up on defense and attempting to send crosses in. Finally decided to make runs on counter attacks and score two.
I predicted a 1-0 game for that one, mainly for that reason (Congo sitting back and England struggling in those scenarios). I also didn't think Congo would score.

the refs have let teams clutch and grab all tournament. Numerous take downs on guys making runs, grabbing/holding on long balls, etc.
its part of what makes it worse as if you’re carding people appropriately the rest of the game, he would’ve been yellowed, it probably doesn’t get upgraded, and we move on
on the photo above, you can’t pick the more harsh part of Messi’s tackle and the more mild of Flo’s. They’re both at a minimum yellow. Messi’s is a red card. Flos is a highly debatable red card but could be given by letter of the law.
