It wasn't pretty, but I'll take it. Especially after some of the friendlies they had leading up to the tournament. They should be able to beat Guatemala even with the UND type of game they'll play.
Better attended than I thought. The crowd drank the stadium out of Modelo. I was probably selling 2 Modelo’s to 1 rest of of options. When Guatemala scored their first goal it got really loud in USB, very comparable to a sold out Vikings game.

I was ballboy at a handful of Kicks games growing up. I was able to see the Cosmos when they came to town. Pele just danced with the ball at his feet. Mesmerizing. So I ultimately got to touch the ball that Pele touched. My only claim to fame.
My first Kicks game was against New York with Pele, Met stadium was sold out, Free parking for all Kicks games 😎 those games were so fun they had so many tailgating parties and people never went into the games

I watched the last 20 minutes and injury time. It’s hard to watch when any player flops. It’s not like they are playing on a gravel road or a cement pad when they land on turf. As well as how easy a player goes down. I don’t know enough about soccer, but there should be an embellishment call for these players flop so easy. As well as falling to the ground rolling in agony and moments later up and running like nothing happened.
Turf actually does kinda suck (at least if we’re talking about the black rubber pellets) but also yeah it’s soccer.

All the World Cup fields are grass. The funny thing is, kids around here much prefer to play on turf (I'm a coach).
And there can be a penalty for embellishment but not enough refs call it. They did call it in the first USA game but it took a video review.
I don’t really watch soccer, daughter played for a few years and naturally got involved then but when you’re used to hockey all winter and go to a soccer game in spring it’s a little slow but can appreciate it for what it is at the same time. Soccer parents (at least the ones I were around) I noticed are very reserved compared to hockey so I learned quick to just watch.😂 really instantly got into the US game today but the embellishment was actually hilarious imo. Replay shows little to nothing for contact and act like their leg is broken and then get up and stay in the game. I like it though, easy to appreciate the stamina and skills.

Turkiye getting shut out in their two matches is obviously not what they were looking for but they have had more of the play (including expected goals) in their first two matches so they may be due for a goal. They are a good team.

I think a lot of it stems from the ref not calling a foul unless a player is actually taken down. If you didn’t go to the ground, how affected were you really? Then it slowly perpetuates into players going down more easily to get calls. Some refs falls for it and some don’t. It varies so much game to game. Of course there is always the joke that the Italians are more affected by gravity than anyone else, that’s why they fall so easily.

I don't watch soccer on the norm but it was on the TV at the bar last Saturday when I saw an egregious flop during the Ivory Coast vs. Germany game. Germany was mounting their comeback late in the game and an IC player was grabbed on his arm and he went down and started holding his ankle. He stayed on the ground to the count of ten...I counted. When he didn't get the call he jumped up and got back in the play like nothing happened.
It makes me laugh when I hear some people call soccer hockey on grass.

It would be great to see and they can start it for 2030 and the qualifying matches for the World Cup. Come out and say you flop it’s a yellow card. You flop again or in the game following it’s a red card and you’re out for a game. It would stop quickly.
