I have a Don Beebe jersey, former Bill. The jersey is a Packers jersey. Beebe got his ring, after 6 tries, w/the Packers. That overrules my hatred of said squad. Brett Favre gave him the game ball after the win.

Who would have thought the team from St. Paul would be the most inspiring local team heading into December? Maybe the Wolves but I couldn't tell you their record.
I don't think it should be that shocking. It's the same squad that was in 1st place in the NHL around the same time last year until Kaprizov got hurt.
Now that Zuccy is back, the top 6 has some mojo again. JoJo has been unreal which is nice. 2 good goalies instead of 1. They're still going to need to add to the top 6 somehow IMO if they want to be dangerous long term. But this run can keep Billy a little more patient and inch towards the deadline if prices remain absurdly high.
I also don't like to rip guys directly, but Tarasenko being out has been a bit of a blessing.

yep their goalies already have 4 "stolen" (advanced stat metric from Dobber) games and have a goals saved above expected of 10.6. Season is wildly different if they're net even there given our goal differential is +4 and we've won 7/12 games by 1.

Last I checked, the goalie was part of what determined how good a team is. Lots of teams have historically had better records than they would have without having a great goalie. Switch the goalies in the Cup Finals last year and I think we'd have a different Champion.
This team last year wasn't that much different in skill, and with slightly lower goaltending were competing for best record in the League before KK went down, along with a pile of other top players. They struggled to make the playoffs because they were skating a number of AHLers to field a team with all the injuries. Granted, with a change in officiating in the playoffs, a team that does great in the regular season doesn't always translate into a good playoff team. But last year that series could have gone either way. I agree they don't have the high level talent depth to make them a major contender, but I think they are a better than average team, especially if the Wall keeps up his play anywhere near what he has been doing.
Obviously what remains to be seen that could make a difference to whatever their end result is are 1) injuries 2) continued solid play in net (we've seen this before) and 3) Guerin has to make a move to shore up the depth and I would argue add some playoff grit as well

Nashville, Calgary, and Vancouver all have less wins and less points than Buffalo. There is 6 teams with a worst goal differential than Buffalo.

Classic letdown game, but Buffalo's first two goals were mostly luck...one off our own player and one that Zuc knocked into the net when he mishandled the puck.

As good as the Wall has been, the Wild team defense has been dialed in. On a day the superstars were barely noticeable, the Wild kept most of Edmonton's shots on the perimeter and gave up few seconds chances.
