Good games? No they're abhorrent, far too much time in the box if you want to win a playoff series against Dallas.
The Wild somehow how have to figure a way to win tomorrow and Game 6. With Colorado already waiting for the winner of the Min/Dal series. The Wild really need to end this series and get as much rest as possible. Just another reason why Gary Bettman's playoff format SUCKS. The Wild should be opening at home in round 1 and round 2.
Probably only would've had home ice round 1. Back when it was 1-8, division winners still got the top seeds. So the Wild would have been the 4 seed if we seeded the playoffs that way. Would've gone:
Colorado
Vegas
Dallas
Minnesota
Point still stands that this first round series should've been in round 2 or 3 though.
It's run its course already this version of the playoffs. I believe one of the claimed arguments in its favor was that it plays up rivalries. But you only play any opponent 4 times max per season - imho not really enough games to heat things up. Plus fighting in the playoffs is practically non-existent, and rough stuff (whether during play or after the whistle) is going to flare up no matter what happened during the regular season because it's the playoffs.
Regional interest is probably the real driver. I would guess the worst-case scenario for the NHL bean counters would be if the best teams all came from the middle of the country, or worse, Canada.
Bettman's motives are probably based on the fear that casual fans would turn off their televisions once their east or west coast darlings got beat.

They scored at a 28% clip in the regular season on the power play, and through the first 3 games, they were scoring at a 32% clip. You got what you asked for by going to the box against the 2nd best powerplay by percentage in the league. If you're going to be a top power play in the league, you're going to have night where you cash in on most if not all of your opportunities (also if you're mad at your killers for letting up 3 on 8 chances, you gotta do some self reflecting).
not to mention, the Wild PP was 25% during the regular season and is 3/19 right now. The PK has been mediocre all year. Nothing has changed there

were actually getting Dallas at arguably the best time, with Hintz likely playing 0 total games in this series.
Can't say anything about watching Utah right now makes me feel like we'd be having a fun time with them and rolling right along either, other than that they hit less so if we won we'd probably be in better physical shape for round 2. Outside of an overmatched LAK team, I don't think there's a gulf between 2-6. The Ducks are a wild card as they've been all year.
Also, regardless of how you want to argue seeding, as you allude to, we would only get home ice in round 1. Oddly enough, road teams have a winning record thus far in the playoffs (just barely). Probably matters a little more as you hit game 5 and on, but there is only 1 playoff team with an under .500 road record (Anaheim), but for MN-Dallas specifically it hasn't seemed to make much difference at all in terms of who's shown up each night (we killed them game 1, they jumped all over us in game 3)

I was initially irritated with Bogo, but when I saw the replay it was obvious he was hung out to dry by his parter. The look of WTF on his face was pretty great.
Wild's best defensive game of the series...smothering. McCarron with a giant goal late.
Wallstedt not as sharp on his rebounds tonight and Oettinger had a couple of moments himself. The first was on Boldy's goal...that was sneaky smart by Boldy to shoot as soon as he had a partial screen because he caught Otter napping deep in his net. On Big Sexy's goal, Otter looked completely lost and off balance...then he lifted his pad to let the puck in.
Great game by the team tonight.
Kirill got 3 points (a goal and 2 assists) tonight. In the 5 game series he has 9 points (2 goals and 7 assists) and is a +9. In 4 of the 5 games he is a +2 or better. He was even in game 3.
He leads the playoffs in points. Jackson LaCombe is second in points.
