When we do the drop pass on the PP entry, we almost always dump it just after crossing the line, and havent been winning many of the puck battles.

Can we just decline the PPs next game? We had no shots on several of them. We are getting WAY too cute with all the perimeter passing and then trying to thread a needle of a cross ice pass through a ton of sticks. Felt like after we took the lead, the PP was a momentum killer.

DAL lines the other 4 players at the blue line, then just flips it to a teammate as they are crossing the blueline, no dump in brilliant if you have talent

Whatever Dallas is doing is working. They just took the series back on the road after giving the Wild a physical beat down for the straight game.
Faber, Boldy, Ek, and Wallstedt have been fantastic the last two games...but that's about it. I don't know if they're losing their confidence but after watching this team flame out in the first round every year, I can't say I like their chances.

they’re shading off whoever the 5th guy is whether it’s tarasenko or Brink. Puts the defenders tighter on the Boldy-Hughes-KK trio as Zucc can hurt you shooting or passing one touch if you give him the space. The 2 we had out there tonight didn’t look like they knew where the next move was so we end up single sided heavy and not moving guys around. If Zucc is out, they still need to try trust whoever that person is out there with them

Their refusal (inability) to work the PP down low proved fatal. They had so few genuine good looks for most of their PP time, and their overall zone entries throughout the game were abysmal.

Once the play gets below the goal line and there's a fight for the puck, Dallas knows they have the advantage. Hughes isn't any better in those scenarios.
Needing a 38-year-old winger to tie a team together or make the highest paid player in the NHL hit his next gear is not an enviable position to be. Hartman and Foligno Bros have been a liability the past couple of games, and it hurts to have Trenin out against a head-hunting team. The failure to call the obstruction is bad enough, but when there's no whistle on a stick to the back of the head to your best player, it's unforgiveable. Minnesota should have gotten a 5-min power play. Instead, they lost Boldy for the rest of the period.

You can't be the highest paid player in the NHL and underperform in the playoffs. Sure, it's great to watch a guy for 82 games, but this ain't the Gophers. These guys are paid to finish.

"stay out of the box" is such a lame thing to say. You don't get to decide if the refs are going to call penalties or not. You don't get to just quit and go home if the officiating is terrible. but brodin took a (albeit soft) one against Steel in a no danger spot
Boldy and Yurov both shot the puck over the glass (the Boldy one is kind of crazy given how it happened but still)
Hughes took one in OT that Rantanen sold but was unnecessary
The refs are all over the place in terms of what they're calling which does not help, but this is a team issue. We've taken 21 minors in 3 games which is complete insanity (with a total of 3 that have been part of coincidentals). That is unacceptable team hockey with only 5 skaters who have played every game without a penalty (does also make what Faber is doing even more impressive given the minutes and assignments he plays to have no penalties)
