They were a lucky bounce off the end boards from a tie in regulation.
They had a number of point blank goalmouth shots that didn't go their way. It's not a stretch to say that Oettinger stole that one.
If Zuc and Trenin don't come back, that is going to hurt. Hartman is a good depth forward but jockeying the roster after two playoff games isn't where you want to be.

Fair on Kaprizov. But they can't have Tarasenko on that line, they tried it & it was a fail. I love what he has brought to the team this year & how he has worked out but that was brutal to watch, he's a sled & provides no value as a first liner. It also exposes what Hartman really is as your number one Center, a band aid. Its no ones fault, injuries happen, hopefully Zuc is back tomorrow night.
Kaprizov played 7:19 with Hartman and Tarasenko. The generated 7 shot attempts, 13 against.
With Boldy & Erickson Ek, 5:16 ice time, 9 shot attempts generated, 5 against. Which was the most productive line combo by far.
Oettinger was no question the difference. The Wild are the better team 5on5 and when Hughes 7 Faber are out there it isn't even close.
I still like the Wild because I believe this pair is the difference maker. While the trenches get tight down low, there is tons of space to work with up top and I wouldn't want any other pair right now in the league navigating that space. All they seem to do when they are out there is possess the puck & continually put the Stars in vulnerable situations.

I am sorry, but how in god's green earth is Dallas' 2nd goal NOT a high danger chance? A cross-crease pass to an open attacking player in the slot, just above the crease? Am I missing something?
If that is not a high danger chance, you might as well throw those stats out.
Minnesota had a lot of point blank chances but cashed in only when they had Oettinger screened. Ek did a great job on Faber's first goal and the second goal came out of a scramble with players in front of the net.
Dallas had good goaltending and some luck last night. Otherwise, I thought MN had the better chances and were the better team.
I don't know anything about advanced statistics, but just based on feeling alone, if we play the rest of the series as an average of the two games, I think we win in 5-6

As Badger season ticket holder and as my "goalie sister" daughter lives in Dallas and has her own Stars tickets (yes she wears a Wild sweater!) , I can say with absolute certainty that the badger (never capitalized) fans are MUCH more knowledgeable than the Stars fans. It's not close, which speaks more to Dallas than Madison.
I also hate to say there are other NHL rinks as bad or worse than Dallas......
