Dont necessarily agree with the call overall, but he took a route that seemed to purposefully make contact with a guy who just scored, and isn't skating towards him. I think he could've avoided that contact. He opened himself up to that call being made by trying to get in the way of a guy celebrating. They needed to start calling differentials, because the coincidental calls weren't stopping the stupid stuff after the whistle. Now after a few differentials, things seemed to calm down, for at least a bit.

Was it Foligno or Hartman in the playoffs 3 years ago? Or maybe both? I am too lazy to go back and look at the scoresheets. But once somebody criticized the officials, it turned into a parade to the penalty box.

Besides Gus being mediocre at best, I agree with streaky thought Petry looked pretty bad. He definitely needs to be on the bench in the playoffs. Also, can anyone tell me what McCarron was doing on the GWG? Other than facing Gus (away from the puck) and screening him? Felt like sabotage. The 5th goal I can't put on Gus, because I have no idea what the guys in front of him were doing leading up to the goal. Middleton had a very half-@$$ed defensive engagement behind the net right before the turnover. Then everyone panicked. Just a weird sequence.
I don't watch a ton of NHL hockey anymore, still some, but I cannot recall a game (NHL or otherwise) where I saw that many centers kicked out. Yurov's faceoff struggles are becoming more evident, and every time we had a center kicked it, it seems like a guaranteed face off loss. So if we have a D-zone draw late in a playoff game, we clearly need two centers on the ice if they are kicking out centers this often in the playoffs. The one linesman, #90, in particular kicked out a lot of centers.

I hated giving up Zeev Buium in the trade, but I have to say, I’ve enjoyed watching Wild games since Billy acquired Quinn significantly more than ever before. The Wild used to be kind of a boring team to watch. Now they’re typically fun as hell to watch, with Quinn, KK, Boldy, Erik Ek & Faber leading the way + 2 competent goalies (despite Gus Bus kicking a key game to the curb last night). To beat Dallas, our goalies have to match up with Otter to have ant prayer. And our Big Knockers have to perform like Big Knockers. It will be a good series. Dallas is far from invincible. Just look at the way Edmonton has brushed them aside the past two years. It’s a toss up series between Wild & Stars. Screw Dallas!

I get confused. Do we push professional athletes to compete for their playing time or do we focus on avoiding shattering their confidence? Who are we worried about showing that we are not worried about goal-tending to? Dallas? The Wild? Our goalies?
I would like to have seen the Wall in nets last night to see how he fares against Dallas in a game that didn't really have that much less pressure than a playoff game. Not sure it is quite the same as making him a clear #1 since they have been treated as 1 and 1A all year. Seems the most important thing is you have your goalie who is playing the best in the net to have the best chance to get a lead in the series early.

My eye test seems to lean towards the Wall lately, but unlike some people on social media, I am not capable of stepping into an NHL coaching or GM position at this time. they have been competing for their jobs all season long. And it has worked extremely well for both of them to this point. I doubt it would have a major affect on anything if they decided to give Wallstedt the 1st game, but I don't really see a reason to change what they have been doing all year. For the Wild to get to where they want to be, they're going to need contributions from both guys.

That's not only a horrible reason for choosing your Game 1 starter but also completely backwards if you do believe in it. If you want to send a message you're not worried about goaltending start the new guy. Not to mention Jesper has been as good or better in nearly every measurable way.
btw for those of you old enough to remember, rookie Don Beaupre and 19 years old had a nearly identical SV% and GA% in the playoffs to that of veteran Gilles Meloche at 30.
I’m OK with Gus starting game one, but if the Wild lose it, Hynes needs to go immediately to Wally in game 2 and so on & so forth. They’ll need both to go on a run and using both has worked well this season Stars are good, but not invincible. But can’t blow any 4-3 leads after 2 periods when taking lead in waning seconds of 2nd!
Either goalie is good enough to carry them, just play on the other end and finish. It’s not that complicated.😁

Most physical round of SCPlayoffs (with everyone feeling fresh) commences TODAY. 4th line for the Wild is most physical we’ve ever had, Kremlin 3rd line plays connected & top 2 lines are among the most skilled with KK & Boldy & a healthy Erik Ek. But Wild will only get past Stars if combined goalie tandem Wally/Gus matches (equals or exceeds) play of Stars Otter. Go Wild!
