First world problems, but really, REALLY not a fan of national TV games. 8:30 start time, haha, no. I was at the game tonight.
8:47pm puck drop. Longer intermissions. Felt like an additional TV timeout every period. Stayed until the end and got back to my car at 11:42pm. Just got home now, just before 12:30am. On top of that it is against an Eastern Conference opponent. Can't be many Tampa Bay fans who stayed up until nearly 1:00am for that.
The Central Division teams are the only teams they do this to (for home games). I hate to think ahead that nearly every week night playoff game is going to be this way...

strong reputation for being a good 200 ft guy. I don't think he'll do a ton of scoring, but should play solid defense in the lower lineup with ability to fill in up the lineup if there are injuries/guys struggling.
your second part probably is going to get decided on health and matchup. too many variables at this point, plus i'm sure they'll consider rostering Stramel when he's done at MSU

Pretty much exactly how I feel. I would be lying through my teeth if I said I knew much of anything about these guys. I will say it should create some legit competition for the 3rd and 4th lines.
Worst case, we have upgrades from Ben Jones/Tyler Pitlick.
If I were to guess, Nick Foligno probably sits and maybe Sturm as well assuming a return to full health. Which we've rarely seen this year, so depth ain't a bad thing.

I will go early sour grapes. This playoff format is effed up. The Wild and Dallas will play and the winner of that most likely plays Colorado. Meanwhile, the #2 and #3 Pacific teams (with over a dozen points less than MN and DAL) play each other, while Anaheim would play Utah and those winners then play. Sincerely, Utah will be in a better position to get to the Conference finals than Minnesota or Dallas. Division winners should get the wildcards of course and then the remaining 4 teams should be seeded according to regular season finish. It's absurd that two of the top 4 teams in the league (as of now) should play each other in the first round and the winner of that faces the top team in the league. Rant over.

I was fortunate to get corporate seats to the game tonight. Utah looked really tired and not into the game at all. Cooley looks a step slow. He used to be so relentless on pucks. Always wanted to get it back or keep it. Not so much tonight. I know he was injured so maybe that’s slowing him up. Wilds took advantage of the Mammoth back to back and put them away with ease.
