I agree. Ek being out hurts a little bit because that was the kind of game you want a cagey mucker with a scoring touch in front of the net.
The Wild didn't help themselves giving up a shorty. I think it was NY's first goal that was a bit of bad luck. Gus couldn't get to the puck because it was sitting amongst skates and sticks.
In a game that would be determined by goalie play, those plays hurt.

Minnesota had some good early looks but when your defense is your best chance to score, well, that is the type of game you get.
Boldy missed on three opportunities in the first, KK and Zuc were non-factors, and Foligno really doesn't add much at all to the team.
It's obvious that when Ek is out, the balance is thrown off.

When they were injured, they put together a couple of nice winning streaks using club players by sticking to details and a system of team defense. What an alert, key pass by Gus Bus to Kaprisov who then fed Zuc for GWG with one second remaining on OT power play!
Kaprisov looked like he had no burst skating the entire games but still put up 3 assists! The 3 weeks he will get off during Olympic break will hopefully rejuvenate his tired legs.
The Wild go on the road with 5 key players out and beat Buffalo the hottest team in the NHL going into today they were 15-2-0 in their last 17 games. The Sabres were 16-5-3 the second best home record in the NHL behind only Colorado.

I've been on this for a few weeks. He is not playing up to his ability and it almost feels like he's playing through an injury. And you're right, it's his skating...but also he's had some bad passes and giveaways.

There was a Gopher fan who kept yelling get "Chorske of the ice" (referring to Tom Chorske I don't know what his beef was with him, but fans always have somebody they don't like) Tom ended up getting two goals and an assist in the game. In the 3rd period when the fan said yet again get "Chorske off the ice" somebody responded back sarcastically "Yeah get Chorske off the ice before he gets a hat trick" well played. 🤣 Sports fans are an interesting bunch (I include myself in this comment). 😀

There was a ton of pressure on the D zone and all 5 guys should have been collapsed...can't let Caufield get an open shot from there.
