Were they saying shit to him during the game? I’ve seen some pretty wild stuff with fans yelling at goalies about their moms and how bad they suck at some college (D3) games in the last couple months so would be curious to know if more is there. Stupid decision by a hs kid. I still remember the Hanowski salute at the STA student section at state and them then banning celebrations in front of the other teams student sections

So tonight Wayzata plays Edina, the game is set for Ridder arena, why isn’t it at Mariucci?

@gopher6 It hasn't been at Mariucci for handful of years. For the Edina section it had been at Big for number of years and I believe last year they finally went over to Ridder. The other section, Tonka, EP (it changes over time) also plays at Ridder on a separate night. They no longer do double headers so Ridder makes sense for attendance purposes and arena quality.
One benefit of doing a single game and not a double header is that the games can be at 7pm. When they did the double header block the first game was usually starting early around 5 and getting down to Minneapolis, parked and in the arena wasn't happening for many outside of parents and students, attendance was poor.
Getting Finals out of Braemar and BIG was a huge win.
Also, the STA, Cretin, Rosemount section is no longer at Braemar either and now playing at the University of St. Thomas' new arena.
My guess is cost and in recents years, section crowds haven’t came near to filling Mariucci like 15 plus years ago. Also, MSHSL likes the dbl header semis, but less and less of a dbl header with 2 section championships.
Do they really do true double header semis? At Braemar and BIG they clear out and start again. Its not like back in the day where warmups are starting right after the previous game finishes up. Maybe over at Aldrich they do?

Ha I hear ya, just never know this time of year. The Hibbing/Cloquet section final I just watched was a hell of a lot more entertaining than the STA/Rosemount slop last night.

You just never know in a one-and-done format. I totally understand that there's no other way to do this tournament setup, but, weird things can happen, especially once you hit section finals (or even semis).

There is some definite maturing that needs to happen with that young lad. Regardless of what happened in the game that response is quite simply, unacceptable. If that were my kid there would be some serious discussions about whether they would continue playing or not.

Early State seedings, taking a crack at it. Still a lot of games to go through and things could fluctuate a lot between 6-8. But I am calling a lock on 1-4 if Tonka gets it done.
And actually Centennial probably gets the 5th seed based on total number of wins and a head to head over WBL even though their schedule is pretty week and much weaker than WBL.

They also have zero good wins. Rock Ridge would be the only team I could see them being put ahead of (maybe Gentry and Andover) but would be stunned to see them in the top five.

No. If the top seeds hold no chance they get seeded higher than Centennial who has 18 wins and 29th schedule rank, granted Centennial does not play a strong schedule. Grand Rapids has 16 wins and 14th schedule rank.
Farmington's schedule rank is 49th. It isn't even comparable what they are playing compared to a top 10-15 schedule. They are essentially playing in a totally different league. They don't have 1 single quality win by AA standards.
Sure, they might squeak ahead of Andover if Andover wins because they are below .500 but Andover is better than Farmington. And sure on Gentry.
Lakeville South is a better team than Farmington and there is a good chance they are going to outshoot them 2-1 tonight.

Edina player shoots the puck, hits the boards behind Wayzata’s goalie, bounces up on the goal rolls across the top of the net and as it’s falling the same player pokes the puck in the goal.
My bad… missed seeing @goldy77 posts earlier today. Though Wayzata was inches away from having a chance to score with a shot. And leads to Edina going up 2-1.
Supposedly, the goal was on Sports Center last night, but ESPN botched saying Edina or players name.
Bummer seeing Sartell lose lastnight to Northern Lakes in 6A, 3-2 (ot). Sartell has been ranked top 10, if not top 5 for most of the season. And this would’ve been their first time at State.
