Refs trying to avoid congressional (parliamentary?) inquiry due to lopsided penalty total in favor of USA 😂.
It likely was for not having players out/ready for the next face off quickly enough (stalling by switching players too late). It sounds like the refs may have warned us earlier in the game.
My takeaways watching with little interest, Canada takes some meathead penalties and its coach had one of the worst challenges I've ever seen.

Looking at the stats on IIHF.com... looks like Canada had a couple players mouthing off at the very end of the game? There's a pair of Unsportsmanlike Conduct penalties at 60:00 of the game.
I definitely wish I'd had the game on, having hit refresh after being away from my desk for a bit and seeing a Czech goal to go up 4-3 with 40 seconds left.
Czech's win. PP goal with 40 seconds left wins them the game. Canadia out in the quarters for the second straight year
I cant believe the Czechs held on and won. They looked wiped and could barely get sticks on the puck. They looked to be trying to just keep the puck on the boards. Even with the PP at the end I didnt think they would score.

I went back to watch the last 8 seconds but didn't see anything. Certainly doesn't surprise me, I thought they were very undisciplined in the games I watched.

So Canada losses due to giving up 3 power play goals including the game winner with 40 seconds left.
The US and Canada were in the same group and both have played 5 games the US has scored 29 goals and Canada has scored 13 goals.
I can now see why Wood wasn't a good fit for the Canadian team he produces too many points (21) and doesn't take enough penalties (4 for 8 minutes). 😉 🤣
Fwiw, if Canada are looking for someone to blame they won't have to look far - it's themselves! They lead the tournament with 113 PIM, almost 40 more than the next closest team (Kazakhstan)
My kids and I were watching the Canada game and cheering on Canada to take more stupid penalties to set Czech Republic up for the win. Sure enough, they followed through. Some of the biggest morons to lace up skates.
The cherry on top was seeing the faces in the crowd after Czechia scored. They went from pure jubilation when they tied it with 4 minutes to go to completely crushed in less than 5 minutes. I'd have collected their tears had I been in the building!
I imagine it's what my face looked like when the Falcon's kicker knocked the 98 Vikings out in the NFC Championship. NOISE to silence.

Russia not playing in the tourney the last few years brings the competition down by quite a bit so it's all the more embarrassing for Canada. And I love that!

They've only been doing knockout rounds since 1996. This is the 5th time they have not made the semifinals, but 4th in the last 10 years.
I remember a Gopher fan doing this at the 2012 WCHA Final 5 after the Gophers blew a lead to UND is the semis.

Two already that Augustine would want back. Not good. Moore probably made a mistake on the first goal, but both you WANT your all world goalie to save
