I suspect when Strahl transferred here from Michigan State it was with the expectation that he would get playing time. He was drafted in the 5th round by Columbus in 2023. He is 21 years old (turns 22 in March).
Last Friday wasn't a great game for him coming in the middle of the 2nd period and giving up 3 goals on 17 shots but two of the three goals were on the power play (once of which was a 5 on 3 goal).
I get wanting to get him a look or two. I just don’t love the idea of “seeing what we got” against the green team. Couldn’t wait a week?

If he wouldn't have gotten hurt in practice making him unavailable to play against Tech the goalies probably would have split games. Now that he is healthy and been back at practice for two weeks they are going with what was likely the original plan (splitting games early in the season).

If you think both these goalies are capable then having them compete and split time isn't a bad idea. Not like Di Pasquo has been otherworldly so far this year.
