Over the past 4 games the Gopher power play is 7 for 14 including 2 for 2 tonight.
The power play for the season is now 21.6 % (23rd of 63 teams).
It's nice to see the team hang around and gut out a gritty win.
They were outshot 2:1 and blew not one but two 2-goal leads against a better team on the road...and won. As Minnesota fans, we've seen the team fall victim to lopsided play dozens of times, and it was nice to flip the script.
I will say OT was a sh*t show as far as possession went. Under normal circumstances, Moore should have skated the puck to open ice to maintain control, but given the Gophers' inability to control the puck, he made the right choice.

I was pleasantly surprised by the size of the crowd and the amount of Gopher Fans that were here.

Of course there were couple of Whioux fans in the building.
Downtown Denver was fun and a clean city.

Literally man. The pk is such a buzzkill though. Just sucks knowing you have to go into a game hoping to take 1 or fewer penalties.

Nothing against Moore but that’s a save that goalie needs to make, same goes for that terrible rebound he gave up on Pritchard’s goal. That goalie did not have a good game, he made a couple good saves but that was about it.It's nice to see the team hang around and gut out a gritty win.

Given how terrible the first period was I’m mostly happy with what I saw on the next two periods, they played evenly vs a good team and created some good chances for goals. That win was pretty lucky all things considered but hey I’ll take it and the game was entertaining.

The announcers on “altitude” were pretty good but lost me when they thought the slashing call on Denver was wrong when after replay, showed it was the Denver player that broke his own stick in the process😂. It made me think of the scene in caddyshack when dangerfield drops his yacht anchor through judge smails new sailboat. “You scratched my anchor!”😂

Just out of curiosity, in the past the HOF game has been considered an exhibition and didn't count against RPI/NPI or against your total games played for the season.
Is that the case here, or is this considered a non-con game that counts?

It looks like it counts because we jumped up 4-6 spots in the NPI last night (if I remember correctly).
Good for the kids they moved the puck well and took advantage of their opportunities. Hopefully defense doesnt allow that many shots going forward. Denver is a really good team.

I thought the PxP guy was good, Johnson was good between the benches (minus the slashing take). I did not like the color guys takes. Luca stands on his head for 2 periods, crickets from that scrub, Miller makes 2 saves in a row and color guy goes off about reflexes like a cat and being a great goalie. PxP guy points out Gophers have most victories in NCAA history, color guy comes in to piss all over it. Then he jumps into the slashing thing. Just my take. Maybe it was just his face, could he change his face???
But Altitude did a great broadcast overall and wished some of the Bigten with all that B$G money could match the level of presentation.
I can't get too upset about the color guy. Look at Pat or Frank. It kind of comes with the territory.
Miller had great stats coming into this game. It looked like the Gophers found a weakness on his blocker side.
They’re homers so it’s not that surprising. I did think the comment about national championships vs overall wins was funny though, mainly because the format of the NCAA tourney is hard to take seriously and it’s not like there’s some magic trade off.

I heard the comment as well. Though from my experiences, Denver fans are pretty quiet about their 10 championships. Even Michigan fans are quite… 7/9 came prior to 1964. Unlike UND or wisconSIN fans. Both let Gopher fans know the # of championships they have compared to the Gophers.
I troll back with, UND can have 1980 championship. The Gophers had 5 (UND 1) eligible players skating for a gold medal that winter.

Someone on the crew (not sure if it was a pilot or the purser for the flight) made an announcement as we were getting closer to joining the landing pattern about the team winning the game the night before and that they were on the plane, got a good round of applause.

A little bit of both, really took off his second year of juniors. Really good player at Brainerd but it's pretty incredible what he's turned into. Looks like a steal of a fifth rounder.

I find it very odd that USCHO never seems to cover Minnesota Gophers unless it's somehow in a negative slant. This has been going on for years it seems. My gripe here is that for once this year's Minny team gave a great effort and gutted out a win in OT against a formidable opponent and its crickets on the USCHO weekly podcast. I was surprised about this...but I really shouldn't have been.

eh they covered us getting jobbed against UMass pretty decently. Sadly USCHOs coverage overall has really dropped off, which makes me sad. there's not a ton of good college hockey options out there aside from podcasts now
Well...maybe if the Gophs can put a few wins together they might cover them a bit better. I actually think their podcast is pretty good generally. Though it's always a lovefest for all things BC, BU, and Michigan.
