We reverted to our breakout being ringing the puck around the boards or just flipping it out. Really hard to generate any offense that way. The lack of talent on the D Corp is really concerning.
Someone in maroon please knock #2 in white on his ass tomorrow
“Good pace, a lot of north and south, or it could be east and west, I’m not sure but either way…” Wooger

yep. reverted to peewee b hockey. Chasing puck (slowly) and scared throwing the puck. No one looked like they’d practiced together all Xmas break
Anybody catch Bob’s postgame with Wally? If so, what was the TLDR?

I was grinning ear to ear when Ludtke put him in that ass-over-head spin cycle late in the 3rd. Always wished we’d play with more of that intensity and edge these past 2-3 years

The passing on this team is historically bad. I watched for completed passes in a row during the 2nd period and they maybe had 3 times where they completed two clean passes in a row. Laughable to see gopher hockey played like this.
there just needs to be a new voice in the room. The talent on this team is down but it should not be this bad. It’s amazing how much better coached they look than us.
xG PSU 3.7-2.8
lot higher than I would’ve expected the gophers to be but semi in line with what I thought the spread would be (little closer as thought it would be about 1.5)

From the Gopher website:
"We turned pucks over in the first period, and they got out. And then we settled in in the second period, had our chances and if you find a goal, we've got ourselves a game, but it never came. Then it was crushing; the third goal with six seconds to go in the second period. That was a crusher for us," Minnesota head coach Bob Motzko said. "But we've got to be better tomorrow. We've got to have individuals to have some better games tomorrow, right from the start. And we will. They were fighting. They were trying to get to it. They were trying to find our game, and it was there in spurts."
It's been that way all year. They have trouble getting shots, much less goals, and can't pass the puck or hold the puck.
The brutal truth is that this isn't a good team playing poorly. It's an average team losing to better teams.
They needed desperately to come out with a bang to start the second half. Instead, they got blanked 3-zip against the 4th best team in the conference.
Id reboot the program at the end of the season.
I don’t think they’re going to do that but they’re gonna need some influx of talent (on D especially) or next year won’t be much better. Is the plan to bring in Wyatt Cullen next year?

I think Wyatt should go play in the USHL for a year based on how young he is for his draft class but if he goes really high in the draft the coaching staff may feel pressure to bring him in.
Every Saturday game following a Friday loss from here on out is a must win. This team can’t afford to get swept unless they reverse it with a sweep of a top 10 team which I find extremely unlikely with this group.

Calling this team average is being generous. What a mess they are. Starts with Bob.

Don’t have nearly the same confidence in Airey as I do with Di Pasquo. He was good against Penn St earlier in the season though.

Ziemer 1-0.

Ugh Airey
Our favorite team really struggles to control the puck off the boards. Or a pass.

You’re not wrong but this team is gonna need some big saves to go anywhere.Ugh WhippleUgh Airey
Ziemer with a chance to clear the zone but fails to do so and the puck is in the net.
They're trying hard but I suspect this one will slip away from them. I'm almost felling sorry for them at this point.

This team can’t stay out of its own way. Airey better not be in the net for the 2nd.
Defense chasing the puck instead of taking a man out.
I love my team. I love my team. I love my team.
Geesh 11, pretend you care.

At least they're playing a lot harder tonight.
Sit Airey, they need more from the forwards in the 2nd.
Too many shots from far away and no net front presence. Drive the net and get some greasy goals, need to screen this goalie to have a chance.
Geesh 11, pretend you care.
I was thinking, aside from the graduates, who are the players you wouldn't want to lose off this team in the off season? I have Ziemer, Mooney, and maybe Moe. (Mooney isn't the phenom I thought he would be.) That's about it.
You could make a case for guys like Hendrickson and Moore, but transfer players could be better.
Roster spots are wide open, which frankly feels like starting over.
There’s times where they have the presence but they don’t have the talent to get a shot thru, especially from the D. When they do get one thru it’s some terrible shot from the corner of the blue line (which is extremely low danger).Sit Airey, they need more from the forwards in the 2nd.

We are outskated, outworked, and outplayed. I think there is more than one person to point to here. This is my team, has always been my team, but right now they have talent that is not outworking other teams. There have been teams with far less talent that have done more. I expect more. I am not a wagon jumper or a basher. Just know that this team has as much talent as many other teams have used to do BETTER. Do better. Blame the coach all you want. Players play. We need players that LIVE to PLAY U of M hockey.

I think Moore's upside is high. Thought he was playing really well when the break came which was unfortunate timing for him. Hope he finds his mojo again.

No argument just 11's disinterest stood out big time to me on PSU's #2 and #3.

You absolutely want Moore back next year. Anyone who says otherwise doesn’t see the trajectory

Right on queue
I was thinking about this too, they have to keep the first two you mention and figure out a way to get more high end talent that pushes guys down the lineup. Some of these guys like Moe could be fourth line center on a really good team and maybe Pahlsson could be 3C etc. But at this point there’s just not a lot of top 6 talent besides Ziemer and Mooney, maybe 1-2 of these guys could eventually be top 6 as 24 year old seniors or whatever. On D Rombach could maybe be the new Thomas but they don’t have the offensive guys needed for the top 2 pairings and a few guys who could maybe be 3rd pairing guys.Geesh 11, pretend you care.

That’s a fucking abysmal call on mitts after the exact same hit wasn’t called on Falloon being hit last night where instead we all cheered about it
