I don't understand why we can't grow the game while playing these games at times people can't watch or on days that aren't consistent or make sense!
One word: Television
They're not going to re-schedule football, basketball or volleyball to just to make hockey times convenient.
I know. More meaning when people freak out about why college hockey doesn’t grow as fast, this is why. It’s hard to see and go to games consistently
Most hockey fans don't go to very many games. They watch them on TV or listen on the Radio. And those timings are way more flexible than when you attend in person.
In case anybody's still looking for an official authentic Jersey, the fan shop at Huntington Bank stadium had eight of them all for $500 a pop
You didn't happen to look at any sizes did you?
Last time I went down to Coffman to look at them, they were all 54, 56, 58... I am pretty sure they would've fit comfortable over my goalie shoulder pads. I'd like an authentic I can just wear around. Probably needs to be a 46 or 48.

Seeing this kind of crap get rehashed by the U over & over at this point, it's just flat-out disrespectful and insulting.
They have known for decades+ now about there being massive unmet demand for a reasonable supply of Gopher hockey jerseys.
Seriously, a while back I was listening to an old 2015ish episode of the podcast (I like history for history's sake) where Hammy launched into a very long classic Hammy rant on this exact issue.
What's wholesale on those jerseys? This seems like a situation where they could EASILY make a bucketload of money if they were more thoughtful about the price point... (admittedly I have no marketing background so I could be WAY off here, but at $500 I'm not even considering it, but at $350 I might at least entertain it)

Given how often this issue has popped up historically, where the U only has ~a dozen or two jerseys in stock: I strongly suspect they have been placing really stupid orders for 10, 20 jerseys at a time. Explains the absurdly high per-unit prices, which they always try passing onto us.
My guess:
(1) Some idiot(s) in our athletic dept are constantly reusing a broken, piss-poor sales forecasting model to inform purchase and pricing decisions
(2) Garbage model shows them past years' sales figures only warrant buying 10 hockey jerseys again.
(3) Said idiot never does a basic sanity check; most likely doesn't care about hockey or sports; and they never once think about why the fan demand/annual sales for Gopher hockey jerseys seems to be capped at 10ish units per year.
They have to order authentic jerseys (well really any jerseys) a year plus in advance. The authentics they have were likely tacked onto the team order, why they are game sizing (to put gear under). The authentics currently are not much different than the replicas apart from a fight strap and elbow stitching. Hopefully they keep the current style for a few years. I have too many jerseys. 😂

I mean the more egregiously dumb aspect is the U has never found a way to get player jerseys. Ziemer and Mooney and now Cullen would sell like crazy, as would have Cooley, Knies and Faber
as an fyi, unds authentic is 430. Hockey jerseys are just stupidly expensive

They could stalk the shelves with Faber, Snuggerud, Knies, LaCombe, Cooley, etc jerseys even years after they’ve left and they’d still sell like hot cakes. Not to mention the Cullen boys are going to be extremely marketable. Such a lost opportunity. So frustrating.

I don't know. I think it would depend on the price point, and the former players would have to sign off on it. I know you think this is the biggest fan base in hockey, but they fail to sell out Mariucci on a nightly basis, even against the major rivals. There is a group of very passionate fans that show up every game and support the team no matter if they win or lose, but what is that number and how much merch do they buy? Also, who is to blame for the jerseys? Is it the U or is it Fanatics? If it is Fanatics, can the U put some pressure on them to carry more merch? To be honest, the store in Mariucci sucks. I buy more merch from the bookstore than through Fanatics. If I were either the bookstore or Fanatics, I would start with the NIL player jersey shirts. The price point is lower ( $40 - $50 ) and see what happens. An out of the box thing would have the U send out an order sheet to season ticket holders and offer them a chance to order a blank authentic jersey with an opportunity to customize them. IIRC, Goldy's lockerroom did something like this a few years ago with the cheaper Taconite jersey? I'm a huge fan, but I'm not going to drop $500, or even $400 on a jersey, which amounts to the price of 1 of my season ticket seats. I buy the cheaper ones that sell for around $120. I do agree that the U does a poor job at marketing the hockey program and that needs to improve. It would be interesting if GPL would do a poll on how many would truly buy an authentic and at what price point they would actually pay for it.

Whoa now, careful about what you say. Some U marketing genius might conclude that if fans can buy a jersey for the price of a season ticket, they should raise the price of tickets.
The Mariucci Fanatics shop is an embarrassment. They used to have a nice selection of quality goods at competitive prices. Now, a Goldy sticker sells for 10 dollars. It's ironic that the University is teeming with professors teaching marketing, business, and economics who can't seem to figure out how to make their services affordable, much less how to lure customers into buying jerseys on game day.

To that point, why is the U so awful at selling/auctioning game used jerseys? Like maybe once a year, stripped, through the U auctions. While other teams have intact game used jerseys in their store, or for raffle, or in more frequent online auctions.

Did the replicas get better at some point? Admittedly, I haven't looked in awhile. But the last times I was looking the replicas were all screen printed color transitions (not stitch, no material transition), ironed on, single layered logos (not stitched), etc. Maybe they got better when they switched to CCM?
The Wild blank replicas for $140, I think they call them 'Breakaway' are junk. Slightly better than a Sh-ersey. The colors seem off, flat logos that are heat pressed on, cheap material. Junk.

Yeah. For the first time the replicas are pretty similar to the authentics minus a few features; but with sizing to go over equipment so even the smallest ones are pretty big for us folk under six feet tall. 😬
Sadly with vintage MN hockey no longer in business there are less options for customization. I had a Wild jersey doctored up last winter through here and they did a great job, but it’s a few months wait.
I forgot to answer, but, I'm with Cowgirl on this. The new replicas are actually pretty decent. The current replicas are a good match on pattern and color, unlike some of the stuff between about 3-6 years ago. Just make sure to try them on yourself, don't go by the size.
I always felt like best with best was better than smearing strengths and weaknesses together but I guess that’s why I’m not paid to coach.
Really like that L2 with Moore and Burnevik on the wing.
Of all the transfers out, I would be really interested to understand Clark. Feels like he would be our best 3C or 4C option but perhaps he has a higher vision of himself. We’ll see where he slots in at Sparty.
