Had the internet go down at work shortly before I left. Lucky for me I had all the labs and specimens package up and dispatched. Or I might still be sitting at work waiting the internet to come back up a calling a stat courier. For as great as technology is, it sure sucks when it goes down.

Fox 9+ needs to figure out this stuttering issue they have, it’s not the first time we’ve seen it this year. Luckily I could just cast thru big+ streaming and that fixed it but not everyone has that option.
I’ll take an easy win against a bad team despite playing sloppy, I assume they’ll look better tomorrow.
I was happy to see Moore get one, he does a lot of things right but hasn’t scored much. Also liked how he did it, good vision and net crashing. The team needs to figure out how to manufacture more offense down low, either by net crashing, driving in with speed/muscle, or working it near the goal line. The offense probing the perimeter trying to set up better chances by wearing down the D is fine but if that isn’t working they need to figure out how to work it down lower and generate chances up front. They also try to do too much from the point, Nelson is good at tipping pucks in front but it doesn’t seem like it works often outside of that.
Good to see Airey play and get his first win, imagine Close will be in tomorrow and will play well.
Hoping for a little more of a sharper and more clinical win tomorrow night. Play all 60 like the they played the first period tonight. Otherwise, a win is a win.

@trixr4kids So Nelson scores a goal on the tip in front of the net. Where he SHOULD be as a big center and gets ripped? Maybe I read it wrong. Isn't that 'offense down low'? . If the post was that there was no OTHER offense down low I agree. Just trying to defend the senior line for a nice response to the no show the last couple games. And they did finally show up in a game we really needed to dominate. Gophers did dominate in every area except the goal total. This should have been an 8-1 game. We absolutely need to start converting on the wide open chances we get and there were many tonight. Hopefully tomorrow is the same result with a more representative score.

I don't think that trix was complaining about the big, physical center hanging out in front of the net, it sounded more like complaining about too much trying to set up a play from the point, and continuing it, even when it really isn't working.

There wasn’t much urgency tonight. Especially in the second and third periods. Looked like they were playing at 3/4th speed. Still not a lot of cohesion in the offensive zone to sustain pressure and generate chances. Best scoring comes on the rush.
That was my thought, too. A distinct lack of urgency for most of the game. No, I don't expect the team to be going truly full-out all game, every game, but, 75% effort for a good portion of a game when the score is 2-1 (or even 3-1) isn't acceptable, and they have GOT to get out of that mode before the playoffs, or they won't make the NCAA tournament in the first place.

The Gophers need to come out and play hard again tonight. Hopefully Bob leaves the lines as is, it seems like a very good mix now.
I'm all for giving Airey more experience tonight. I'm a big Close fan and think he can step up his game another level and be a championship goalie this year. The defense and whole team need to keep improving every game. I would love to see the Gophers make it to the Frozen Four and win the Natty wearing their new Gopher Golds in St. Paul.

Remember the story of the tortoise and the hair? First period we ran away with the game. Second period we took a nap under a tree. Third period we joggers across the finish line and almost let the tortoise get back in the race. A few of the same dumb turnovers that other teams capitalized on to score goals.

I felt like this was an area where Wisconsin was better than the gophers during that series and it seems like if the gophers have their rush chances limited they struggle.
